B5 Alumnus Sighting

Here’s some news from Maggie Egan:

Maggie Egan Hi everybody,

Please tune in on Friday, July 6, 2007 to “Standoff” on Fox at 9pm. I’m guest starring as Lauraine Reiker, who, along with my “husband,” played by John Billingsley fom ABC’s “The Nine,” is kidnapped and held hostage.

I hope you enjoy the show. It was a pleasure working with everyone from the show. At the top of that list is Writer/Producer, Juan Carlos Coto, and, of course, director, Jonathon Glassner. What a wonderful cast, too. I loved working with everyone… Ron Livingston, Rosemarie DeWitt, Gina Torres and Michael Cudlitz, who literally swept me off my feet. All of the cast were so welcoming and kind and so very talented. I loved every minute of working with them.

If you feel so inclined, please visit www.fox.com/standoff and post a positive message, preferably about or including me, on their message board. Every one person who emails them represents 1,000 people with the same opinion in the studios eyes, so please pass this email on to everyone you know. I am deeply grateful to you for all your help and support.

Yours truly,

Maggie Egan
p.s. I’ve attached a recent headshot just for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks for the info. I picked up one her albums, and its really nice. Not speed metal, but still pretty good. I always enjoyed her segments on the show, and will take a look at her role in this production.

  2. I’m a Standoff fan looking forward to Maggie’s role in the upcoming episode “Ex-Factor,” so I’m glad the word is getting out!

…and we are very friendly and welcoming over at the forums for Standoff, so watch the new episode and then stop on by to discuss the show!

If you are intrigued by what you see on Friday and wonder how you could have missed this show all along, you can watch previously aired episodes free online at http://www.myspace.com/standoff .

  3. Okay, let the B5 synchronicities begin… the actor playing her husband was a star on “The Nine”. Coincidence??

The only problem I’ll have is that I don’t get my local channels on DirecTV anymore…. frakkin’ trees. Oh well. I might just post something on that website anyway. Maggie deserves it. 🙂

  4. Did anyone else watch?

    Maggie was *fantastic* in this.

John Billingsley – Doctor Phlox on Enterprise – was her husband. He caught some higher-ups in his company doing some … shall we say … no-nos, and was in court testifying about those no-nos. He had a bag over his head to protect his privacy.

Maggie was watching, along with an armed guard, from a motel or apartment or something, close by. After John gets done with his testimony, he is escorted back to Maggie. Just after that, the bad dude tracks them down, guns blazing, and kills the guard, and kidnaps the couple.

It’s up to the FBI negotiators to work with the captor to free the couple without getting anybody else killed.

Now … I have seen Maggie in other parts, besides Babylon 5. I tuned in excitedly for her part in Malcolm in the Middle, only to find it was a tiny cameo with only a couple seconds on air. I’ve seen her in that dreadful Seinfeld show, where her character was working at the airport for about five seconds. So when she said it was definitely more than a cameo, I was pretty excited, but guarded.

I was not disappointed. The episode was centered completely around her and her husband. When she was not on screen, the dialog was about her (and her husband). When she was on screen, she was able to show a range that she only barely touched upon in Babylon 5.

She could be the next great action star.

Here’s the clincher … I asked a couple co-workers, who were completely unfamiliar with her or the Standoff show, to tune in and let me know what they thought. The common reaction was “Hey, she’s pretty good. I’d like to see more of her, and the show’s not bad either.”

Three cheers for Maggie and the Temple of Jane!

  5. You were wonderful on Standoff and We all appreciated you stopping by and chatting with us last night after the show. Your insights were great. Keep up the good work!

I hope you all are having a wonderful summer. Hope to see you all soon somehow, someway.

    Sincerely,

    Maggie Egan
