Babylon Podcast #158: A View From the Gallery (Season 5)

Welcome to Show #158!

Shaking coasts and hot sunshine… it’s summertime!

“Yell Fudge at Cobras Day”… “Frozen Yogurt Day”. The wackiness continues…

Deep Geeking: This week, Tim and Summer discuss “A View From the Gallery”, the story of a day in the life on the station as seen from two maintenance workers who still need to go about their usual duties in the middle of a dangerous battle situation.

Do you think this episode appropriately captures a view of life on the station for the regular people?

Discussion: Kate in Chicagoland asks about the rumor about Crusade that had Gideon and the Apocalypse Box merging; David presents his observations on why all the rogue telepaths had gone au naturel with their grooming habits, and on the telepath saga as a whole. New Gary left a comment asking what life as a production assistant would be like, and what sort of opportunities are gained from the work.

And finally, everyone gets to hear “Tim Headroom”!

  1. This is by far the best episode of Season 5 (well, if you count Sleeping in Light as Season 4 it’s the best).

  2. Steve Wynne says

JMS himself said during the DVD Commentary for “Racing the Night” that it is Gary Coles’ voice in the box and that it would have played out during the last episode of the first season when Gideon got “killed”.

Unfortunately, we’re never going to know why… Shame really

  3. If you think about it, perhaps the box is like the cyborg guy thing that Kosh uses to “scan” Ms. Winters. In the sense, it scans its owner and feeds back to it. Would explain why it’s his voice. This maybe just me trying to figure out that guy out. Strange I’m blanking for his name.

  4. Are you guys aware of this podcast?

    I found it just now.

  5. *rofl*

First, thanks for posting the link the Sprint commercial. I watched all the variations and found it very amusing. Too bad we don’t have anything similar here (we’ve had a nice UPS commercial a couple of years ago, though).

Second … please warn before running something as funny as the “Tim Headroom” clip. I nearly fell off my bike when that part of the podcast came on, that was absolutely hilarious ๐Ÿ˜€

Great show! Now I am finally watching “along”, I just finished View from the gallery and will dive into the next episode. Keep it up ๐Ÿ™‚
