Along with the changes to the show post information, I’ve also been working on a new layout for the website.
The main “shows” listing in the blue navbar will give a listing of all shows, so it’ll be easier for folks to see at a glance which show contains which interviews.
The “year” listings will display the shows in the standard format, making it easier for all of you to go through the archives and apply ratings to the episodes (hint hint!)
So, what do ya think?
The overall look is great, clear and intuitive, but the only thing I’d think about dropping or renaming is the “behind the shower curtain” tag. It’s name is too ling and somehow it just doesn’t fit with the other tags on the menubar. At least capitalize it since it’s the only un-capitalized tag on the vertical “categories” menu. I know, I’m nitpicking like hell :-). Overall great job, Summer.

I was quite surprised seeing the website this morning. It will take some getting used to.
It’s nice. Didn’t think the previous one needed replacing though.
One thing: could the “Continue reading” links become like those new-fangled click-and-the-post-expands-to-full-article(without comments) links, instead of going to a new page?
It needed it, trust me. The theme was about 3 full versions behind the newest WordPress, and you never know when the WP guys will implement a core change that might cause perfectly good code in an older theme to break.
As for the inline expansion request, no. 🙂 It’s likely possible, with some combination of jQuery, Ajax and creative use of the “more” tags, but first, that would be a lot of work to update all of the older posts to fit the new model, and second, the full page is where you find the comments form in order to leave a comment. Causing all of that the load all the time runs the risk of slowing the entire site down.

I have to say I’m not enjoying the new theme. This in no way is meant to diminish the appreciation of the hard work you put into the site Summer.
The separation of the current show from the rest of the page content seemed novel at first, but now I find it, and the lack of comment numbers being included in the show description diminishing my enjoyment and contributions to the site.
It seems to take more clicking/digging/scrolling to get to things. I enjoyed posts in chronological order. It made it easier to follow things, at least for me.
Ok, Summer, with the addition of the comment count numbers You’ve sold me on the new format. I guess I’m just stubborn in my ways, but it is growing on me.
