Script Books Extension, New Books

Posted 2008-05-09 6:33 pm in News by Jim C

After officially announcing the 14-volume series end date of May 31, 2008 we received more than a few letters from fans upset that we were not keeping a promise.

They pointed out that the original FAQ on the website stated that the volumes would be available for 90 days after the release of volume 14. Since Volume 14 was released on March 28, our May 31 end date did not fulfill on the 90 day promise.

For this reason we have re-scheduled the end of the series for June 30, 2008. This is the absolute final day of sale for any of the volumes in the 14-volume series.

Note: the autographed volume 15 offer is also good through June 30, 2008.

Complete sets can be ordered from Cafe Press

Over at Comic Book Resources, there’s a good summation of JMS’ appearance on the DC Comics Panel at Wondercon this past weekend. Thanks to Ian Smith for the heads-up link!

JMS at Wondercon The highlights:
* More “Lost Tales” is on the way”
* Filming on “The Changeling” is complete, film due in November 2008
* “World War Z” adaptation still going
* “Silver Surfer” movie to include more Galactus

So much for the in-joke opening for podcast Season 3!

Lois Nettleton, Beyond the Rim

reposted from Slice of SciFi

tulip1_1087837324.jpgVeteran film and TV actress Lois Nettleton has died this week after her battle with lung cancer. She was 80.

Nettleton is remembered by sci-fi fans as Daggair, the enduring wife of Londo in the highly popular “Babylon 5″ television series.

Her career spanned over 5 decades beginning in the early heyday of television production. Her TV roles were extensive ranging from the corny 1950’s versions of sci-fi to strong dramatic roles in shows like “The Twilight Zone,” “The Naked City,” “The Pretender,” and most recently in six episodes of “Crossing Jordan” for the part of Evelyn.

Nettleton lent her voice for such animated fare as “The House of Mouse” and “Mickey’s House of Villains” (Maleficent), Spider Man” (Nora), “The Flash” (Belle Crocker) and “Herc’s Adventures” playing the voice role of Athena.

The actress has also done her turn with sitcoms and funny films proving to have perfect comedic timing. Some of her roles have been on the award winning “Seinfeld,” “Full House,” “The Facts of Life” and “The Golden Girls.”

Nettleton’s last role took place in 2006 for the made-for-TV family film “The Christmas Card” in which she starred with her old friend Ed Asner. As a result of her and Ed’s performance, the film was nominated for a primetime Emmy Award. Ms. Nettleton was herself nominated for a total of six Emmy Awards in her 53 year career in show business and walked home with two of the Emmy statues.

Live feed dark until after New Years

Posted 2007-12-19 4:42 pm in News by Summer

Just as a reminder to everyone, there will not be any live feed recordings to listen to from any Draco Vista shows until after New Years. I believe there may be a live feed to listen to on the afternoon of Dec 29th, what with the Winter Party going on there, but no shows will be recorded that day.

There will be new episodes of Babylon Podcast going out as usual, so enjoy those, have a safe and happy holiday season, and we’ll be back next year!

No Live Feed this week

Posted 2007-11-21 11:29 am in News by Summer

Since today is a travel day for a lot of people heading off for Thanksgiving gatherings, there will not be a recording session at the studio today, and as a result, no live feed going out tonight.

For those who also listen to the Slice of SciFi live feed on Thursday nights, or to Wingin’ It 3-D live feeds on Saturday afternoons, there won’t be any recording sessions for those shows this week, either.

Enjoy the holiday, those who celebrate, and enjoy a good night’s sleep, those in other parts of the world who usually stay up late to listen.

B5 Presidential Campaign heats up!

Posted 2007-11-13 4:57 am in News by Edmund

JMS with Londo/Gkar Yard SignAs mentioned by Tim in this week’s show, the Kosh for President campaign has some competition as a couple of formidable tickets have thrown their hats into the ring. The folks over at b5scripts.com and cafepress.com have enlisted Londo and G’Kar under the banner of “How much worse could it be?” They seem to have the support of JMS, but that may not be exactly what it appears. The two ambassadors offer a flexible approach to governing, promising on their website, “Should the electorate find themselves not happy with the slate as elected, whoever is in second position will gladly assassinate the other in order to bring about a referendum.” Between Londo’s oratorical flair and G’Kar’s well-known appeal to the fairer sex, the Vorlon will have to manipulate, I mean, sway, many minds to come out on top.

Analysts are unsure what effect the third ticket will have on the election. Zathrus and Zathrus have also announced, under the banner of “Zathrus trained in crisis management.” They also promise “in times of economic belt-tightening by electing one Zathras you elect all Zathras, nine for the price of the One.”

More on both campaigns, along with ways to show your choice, are available here.
