Hold onto your hats, people... business travel actually has Jeffrey and Tim landing in the same city and the same time, and that means they'll actually be encouraging each other to ratchet the puns to new levels.

Voicemail: Monty Vorlon's Flying Circus... nothing more need be said.

We go through voicemails and emails this time around, and truly, no one can stop the puns.

Babylon 5 Information Gathering: Can we and should we mount a Babylon 5 propaganda campaign, in order to get sales of The Lost Tales to the point where Warner really really wants to greelight more volumes of TLT? Let us know...

Also, if you know of a dead or abandoned B5 related website that may be in need of a new home, let Summer know!

Summer still wants to find the long versions of the B5 promos that ran on TNT prior to Season 5, the ones narrated by Keith David... anyone have any old VHS copies of S5 they taped from TNT? Specifically, the :30 spots, one featuring Ivanova and the other G'Kar... they were part of the series of ads TNT ran promoting the addition of B5 to their lineup.

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

		<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #95!

We're switching things up this week, and JEFFREY's running the board, recording this episode from FarPoint Media's Los Angeles studio. The only real downside was that there was no way to broadcast a live feed for this episode. It was truly a session that deserved to be on the feed, too.

Tim, Summer and Jeffrey are joined by Brad Bowyer, and we start out pondering why we never saw the B5 command staff come down with the flu or the runs, and the musing devolves from there.

Tim reads an email imploring fans to write letters in support of getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Walter Koenig, and he's the last remaining original Star Trek member not to have a star.

Walk of Fame Committee Chairman Johnny Grant passed away a few hours after we recorded this show, so please address your letters to:

Chairman, Walk of Fame Committee
c/o Hollywood Chamber of Commerce
7018 Hollywood Boulevard, 2nd Floor
Hollywood, CA 90028

You can find more details here: http://www.walterkoenigsite.com/waltersstar.html

Deep Geeking: Tonight's geeking focuses on "Sic Transit Vir", and discussion on how the characters start adjusting to their new roles as leaders of a breakaway station all alone in the night.

It takes a few viewings to appreciate just how much humor is running just below the surface.

Listener Feedback: Tim reads an email from Ntozubod asking what one single episode you'd have someone watch if you only have that one shot to get them interested. We argue in a circle... a couple of times.

Specifically, the :30 spots, one featuring Ivanova and the other G'Kar... they were part of the series of ads TNT ran promoting the addition of B5 to their lineup.

Yes, we really are still working out logistics on the Jerseys. We'll keep you posted on when you can place your pre-order!

Tim, Summer and Jeffrey ring in the first Babylon Podcast of 2008 with puns. And some New Year's resolutions broken mere seconds after they're made. But we're playing on the new mixer, so it's all good.

And many props to Brad Bowyer for editing together the Holiday Specials.

Voicemail: We're playing catchup for the voicemails from the end of 2007; Andrew sent in the audio for a Season 1 blooper favorite of Summer's; Kurt in St George noticed that Delenn didn't reveal a secret to us in "Ceremonies of Light and Dark", and surmises that she may have confided this secret to Lennier... both Summer and Tim disagree with this theory and list the reasons why; Keyboard: Purple, Mouse: Green... geek jokes ensue; Gary enjoyed seeing that Peter Woodward had a role in "National Treasure 2" and wishes that there could have been a Crusade movie; Peter Woodward's movie "Closing the Ring" has opened in the UK, directed by Richard Attenborough; a suggestion about what to do with those proof of purchase tags in DVDs; a comment about Buzz Aldrin's comments for Jeffrey, and a vote against a Vorlon blog?

In the email feedback, Tim reads messages from Kate from Chicagoland, who wants to hear us chat with Kim Strauss about being "the alien of the week"; Mike S wonders if JMS may have intentionally picked a list of SF conventions to break during the evolution of the show; and Andrew laments how a Star Trek podcast made CNN, while a Babylon 5 podcast doesn't... and would love to hear from Claudia again. The chat room, on the other hand, would love it if Keegan MacIntosh dropped in again.

Shameless related begging: There's a box of Babylon 5 novels sitting here, books that were rescued from unknown fates at used bookstores in his area by Brad from the PodCulture podcast. The B5 library collection grows... if you are interested in buying/trading the books currently in the B5 library, leave us a comment!

		<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #92!

Tim, Summer and Jeffrey discuss space travel, future plans for the new kosh.org, and of course, the voicemails and emails that have been piling up behind the scenes.

Yes, we really are still working out logistics on the Jerseys. We'll keep you posted on when you can place your pre-order!

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

Shameless related begging: There's a box of Babylon 5 novels sitting here, books that were rescued from unknown fates at used bookstores in his area by Brad from the PodCulture podcast. The B5 library collection grows... if you have a request, send it in.

		<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #91!

Tim, Summer and Jeffrey chat about Thanksgiving, turkeys, turducken, and holiday recording schedules. And for some reason, the tangents ruled this open.

B5 Audio Drama: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 19: "The Die is Cast" (TS: 9:00-14:58) What you're hearing here on The Babylon Podcast is just a small part of the story... the full audio drama can be heard at Voices of Babylon, so what are you waiting for? Head over and check them out!

Deep Geeking: "Severed Dreams". All Geeking, All the Time.

Apologies ahead of time for the audio quality for the Deep Geeking... there was a studio malfunction, resulting in the loss of ALL of the discussion about "Severed Dreams" (and you thought we were kidding about the helpful donations).

Jeffrey actually sticks around for the geeking on this episode, and adds some anecdotes from his time on the set during the filming.

Between witnessing hostilities between EAS forces, seeing the B5 command staff take stand and pick a side in the battle that's been building around them for well over a year, discovering how fine a line ISN has been standing on since the first rumors that Clark was involved with Santiago's death, Delenn's confrontation and dissolution of the Grey Council, and the heated battle between the station and Clark's forces and the intervention by the Minbari, the show truly embodies what's built up since the end of Season 1: "Nothing's the same anymore."

Jeffrey taunts us by letting us know that he still has Hugo screeners for this episode.

Have you ever seen a Babylon 5 character when you were out trick-or-treating? Discuss.

Deep Geeking: Tim and Summer talk about "Messages from Earth". This is the first episode of the emotional roller-coaster that doesn't really come to a close until the end of Season 4. THIS is what we love the most.

From Marcus rescuing Dr Mary Kirkish so she can tell the story of Earth's previously unknown involvement with Shadow technology, to Sheridan's decision to destroy the newly found Shadow ship on Ganymede, and the resulting encounter with the EAS Agammemnon and President Clark's declaration of martial law... this is one episode that bears much on it's story shoulders, and carries it all very well.

Jeffrey enlightens us as to what it's like to live "in fire", and how to avoid problems and still managing to keep abreast of the World Series.

Deep Geeking: Tim, Summer and Jeffrey talk about "Exogenesis". Don't forget, this is the episode where Steve "Snackman" Thorpe, Carrie Dobro and Jeffrey all appear as med techs (we didn't, and we have a little fun with Jeff about that).

While this episode is really a low mark in Season 3, there are a few tidbits in it that reflect in later episodes, and later character behavior. We see the first time that Marcus and Franklin work together, we find out a little more about Corwin, and we witness a comedy of errors that leads to Ivanova inadvertently encouraging Marcus' romantic intentions.

We can only imagine what this episode might have been like if JMS' creative process hadn't been so greatly interrupted.

B5 Audio Drama: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 17: "Questions of Authority" (TS: 21:52-27:25) What you're hearing here on The Babylon Podcast is just a small part of the story... the full audio drama can be heard at Voices of Babylon, so what are you waiting for? Head over and check them out!

Remembrances: Jeffrey and John Radulovich pay tribute to producer / director Richard Compton, who passed away on August 11.

Listener Feedback: We discuss the voicemails and emails you keep sending in. Keep sending them!

B5 Audio Drama: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 16: "Probing Questions" (TS: 6:10-12:05) What you're hearing here on The Babylon Podcast is just a small part of the story... the full audio drama can be heard at Voices of Babylon, so what are you waiting for? Head over and check them out!

Deep Geeking: The Deep Geeking this week features Tim, Summer and in-studio guest Philip from Australia talking about "Dust to Dust". Yes, Summer got to the studio, and yes, the geeking runs really long. Enjoy!

Since Michael, Jeffrey and Summer were prepping for their trip to Podcast and New Media Expo last week, there was no recording session. Thankfully, Brad and Jarsto have done admirable work in our absence.

B5 Audio Drama: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 14: "Small Problems" (TS: 1:25-9:50) What you're hearing here on The Babylon Podcast is just a small part of the story... the full audio drama can be heard at Voices of Babylon, so what are you waiting for? Go over and check them out!

Yes, finally, it's here! The long-awaited Deep Geeking #8482; for "Over There", the second episode in Volume 1 of "Babylon 5: The Lost Tales".

Deep Geeking: Tim and Summer commence the geeking for the second Lost Tales episode, "Over There", chronologically picking up right after the Keegan MacIntosh interview.

We talk about how smoothly Bruce has slipped back into the character of Sheridan, with a little more age and a lot more leadership experience added to season. This story truly showcases some of the best elements that die-hard Babylon 5 fans truly love.

We also talk about Sheridan's diatribe about being pulled again into the forefront of seeing a horrible future that needs to be countered before it's too late, and the implications that Technomages and others who keep turning to Sheridan out of a belief that he can change the course of destiny, and make large sections of the universe bend to his will. Talk also ventures from city skyline landmarks of today lasting long into the future, where Vorlon technology may have been scooped up to be analyzed and adapted by humans, and more.

Discussion ranges around Sheridan being faced with the conundrum of meeting a jaded innocent, knowing that he might be destined to devastate Earth, and the reality of seeing and talking to a young man who hasn't done anything yet save being born into a poisonous royal court and growing up with the fallout of what his own father almost did to the planet.

What to do? What manipulations and machinations truly lie deep in the heart of a Technomage? We may never know.

<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #83! Summer's literally so rushed off her feet she doesn't have time to post this, so notes by Jarsto. Please, be gentle.

Summer, Jeffrey, Tim (the first one) and Tim (the younger) open up the show. The opening pretty soon moves two universes over into the realm of the Jedi. Then it goes to Summer's life as a girl geek. And then to an apology from Jeffrey, for a bad joke he made. Somehow they manage to close the opening and move on with the show.

Interview: Keegan Macintosh (Prince Vintari) joins the Babylon Podcast crew for an interview, "confesses" to listening to the show, and moves straight on to mastering the accent, how he got cast as Vintari, and what David Bowie had to do with it.

The discussion moves on to the "no mercy" atmosphere among the B5 cast on the set, the nature of green-screen work, and the joy of being a Starfury, both while filming and watching it back on the screen.

The "start at season two" B5 recruitment advice leads to a discussion of good television series. Then a brief look back at how Keegan first heard about the role, and a discussion of the potential for more Lost Tales (and more Vintari).

Doug Netter's (and JMS's) sense of humor, comparative times spent in makeup for Vintari's hair versus Galen's lack of same, the need to be careful with the hair, the convention scene, Keegan's current lack of website, and possible future parts round out the interview.

Fan Cast: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 13: "Examinations and Recalibrations" (TS: 35:06-44:33) This is the long version of TES that will normally only go out on Voices of Babylon, because of the short(ish) show.

Finally our intrepid editor Brad, and his lovely assistant Christina, provide a close and explain what's going on with the end of this show (and where the promised geeking on Over There is).

Babylon 5 Information Gathering: Can we and should we mount a Babylon 5 propaganda campaign, in order to get sales of The Lost Tales to the point where Warner really really wants to greenlight more volumes of TLT? Let us know!

Also, if you know of a dead or abandoned B5 related website that may be in need of a new home, let Summer know!

		<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #82!

Summer, Jeffrey, and Tim are joined by Brad and Tim A, and the sock puppets just plain take over the joint. Tim throws out a theory for JMS' sock puppet escapade, that maybe there was a method behind the faux madness.

And just how can we convince WB that more B5 product from them would be just as well received, if not better, with just a little bit of well-placed advertising? How can it make sense to not advertise a project because you're worried about the financial risk, when running an ad in a space targeted to Babylon 5 fans will ensure maximum saturation in the group most likely and most interested in buying said project?

Summer's confused and upset about the lack of support and promotion for "The Lost Tales" DVDs, and Brad wonders if WB does it on purpose. Which opens up ten other cans of worms, but we want to do more, and in return, receive more B5 for it.

Interview: Peter Woodward joins an excited B5 crew to talk about his Babylon 5 experience, which all began with his being late for an audition for "A Call to Arms", and how Galen's enigmatic nature just *is*.

We hear how yet another cast member would gladly rent out body parts to continue to do more B5 projects, and gives us as much insight into Galen as he can without activating the remote zapper feature in JMS's secret B5 cast crew implant.

Peter's also been a cog in other genre shows, with appearances in "Brimstone" and "Stargate", and portraying the Source of All Evil in "Charmed", and he tells us about growing up watching Doctor Who, and enjoying science fiction and it's characters, and more.

The Galen-focused show titles get a little silly.

Fan Cast: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 12: "The Aftermath" (TS: 41:04-46:29)

We promise to get to the Deep Geeking on "Over There" next week. Oh, and put down the sock puppets, and slowly back away.

Bonus: Stay tuned after the closing credits... there's an extra treat. Trust us.

		<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #81!

Jeffrey is in the main studio in Phoenix, Tim the Younger has joined us, and Petter Hansen (Warlord in IRC), is visiting us. His server in Norway handling the live feed, and he has arrived bringing Norwegian beer for the boys to consume.

Warning: This episode runs far off the beaten geeky path from the very beginning, and there is much silliness sprinkled in with the B5 content.

Studio Banter: Jeffrey gets the scoop from Petter on Babylon 5 viewing and fandom in Norway; Michael and Tim the Younger try to raise elder gods, and we discuss various Lovecraftian influences in the Babylon 5 universe; Jeffrey wants everyone to change their names to fit into the Narn or Minbari naming conventions;

Should we update the B5 drinking game rules?

Fan Cast: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 11: "The Deluge" (TS: 20:08-24:59) What you're hearing here on The Babylon Podcast is just a small part of the story... the full audio drama can be heard at Voices of Babylon, so what are you waiting for? Go over and check them out!

Listener Feedback: Mike discusses new B5 swag and props he saw at Dragon*Con; Tim is a recent B5 fan, and has managed to lure his mom into watching the series too; Tim reads an email from Australian contest winner Mark; Steve in MD enjoyed Lost Tales and wants more, but argues about the use of "Colonel" in a ranking system that's obviously naval based; Mark H comments on Lochley's comments about leaving the demons behind, thinking that maybe that's one of the reasons for causing Sol to go nova and destroy Earth in "Deconstruction of Falling Stars"; Neil comments on the argument between Tim and Summer about "Liquid Sky" being a far worse movie than "Armageddon".

Voicemails: Edmund responds to his Fake Edmund responder; John from Jersey begins the commentary on the "Over There" segment of "Lost Tales", criticizing the portrayal of the Centauri bombardment of Earth as the worse thing Sheridan could have seen... when it's really not; John from Jersey reminds us that his side is part of the three-edged sword; John in Michigan is on the "Deathwalker" episode, and comments; Edmund on Bronzethumb's list of LoTR-B5 parallels, and the source of "Last, Best Hope"; John from Jersey with more thoughts on "Over Here".

Summer still needs to find the long versions of the B5 promos that ran on TNT prior to Season 5, the ones narrated by Keith David... anyone have any old VHS copies of S5 they taped from TNT? Specifically, the :30 spots, one featuring Ivanova and the other G'Kar... they were part of the series of ads TNT ran promoting the addition of B5 to their lineup.

Jerseys Are Go! (really... we're still moving forward with these!) Interested? Let us know if you'd place a pre-order!

We're running a little behind because of Dragon*Con Recovery Syndrome.

Jeffrey is back home in LA, and Summer reminds him that the desert in Phoenix is really hot, and he has to come visit in it, but Tim the Younger promises to take him out to keep hydrated. Jeffrey also assures us that he survived his encounter with military training runs in Fort Knox, with no major or minor injuries to report. Tracy Scoggins scored a movie gig, so she was unable to join us this evening... but she promised to talk to us when she's got a free moment.

Listener Feedback: "The Lost Tales" seems to have brought out many comments from the listeners, and we address a bunch of them here... and in case it wasn't apparent: Spoilers are contained herein!

Molokov from Australia submits a listener review of "The Lost Tales"... we could use more of these.

Babylon 5 Information Gathering: Can we and should we mount a Babylon 5 propaganda campaign, in order to get sales of The Lost Tales to the point where Warner really really wants to greelight more volumes of TLT? Let us know...

		<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #79!

Tim is back, and Jeffrey is Kentucky, and Summer is always here. Jeffrey's wrangled up some "Lost Tales" fan related interviews for us! Also stay tuned for more video content as part of the Lost Tales-apalooza month long (or longer) fest.

Interview 1: Adam Francis, production assistant during Season 2, joins us to tell us about how long his fan interest in Babylon 5 extends back, some of the running around he did during his tenure on the show, seeing and talking with the cast and crew he worked with after so much time, and more.

Fan Cast: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 10: "The Storm" (TS: 24:01-28:30) What you're hearing here on The Babylon Podcast is just a small part of the story... the full audio drama can be heard at Voices of Babylon, so what are you waiting for? Go over and check them out!

Interview 2: Acclaimed conceptual artist Tim Earls rejoins us to give us some of the work he did for "The Lost Tales", mostly storyboarding for all the scenes and visual effects. He also talks about some of the updates that went into set and ship design, and how some of his changes were incorporated into the finished product. Will we ever see the CG-intensive Garibaldi-focused story that Tim laid out?

Tim's currently the set designer for the new fall show, "Pushing Daisies", and is working on a still-secret new Serenity project for Quantum Mechanix

Deep Geeking: Tim and Summer conclude the geeking for the first episode, "Over Here". We talk about the possible implications of Lochley's theory and solution to the problem of what to do with Simon Burke... what could humanity do without the threat of devils and demons to haunt their dreams, and without a need for the Church amongst the stars? Will ancient evil be left behind when the cradle of humanity vanishes into dust when Sol goes nova? Will new battles be waged for the souls of all races, not just humanity, out beyond our galaxy?

And how do we know that all of this couldn't have been investigated by a telepath? Lochley used to have a good relationship with Bester... did what happened during the Telepath War change her willingness to use a telepath first, or did her upbringing cause her to lean towards something in her comfort zone?

Babylon 5 Information Gathering: Can we and should we mount a Babylon 5 propaganda campaign, in order to get sales of The Lost Tales to the point where Warner really really wants to greelight more volumes of TLT? Let us know...

Also, if you know of a dead or abandoned B5 related website that may be in need of a new home, let Summer know!

Summer still needs to find the long versions of the B5 promos that ran on TNT prior to Season 5, the ones narrated by Keith David... anyone have any old VHS copies of S5 they taped from TNT? In this first video, Jeffrey interviews the first people in line, including Adam Francis, a former production assistant during the second season, and Robert, who has a rare and collectible B5 item: an original logo design t-shirt that was given out at Comic-Con before production was completed on "The Gathering".

It's nice to see other true fans turning out with goodies such as this one!

Tim is on vacation this week, so Summer, and Jeffrey welcome Jarsto as a last-minute fill in, and we all continue with "Lost Tales" celebration month, and remember... there will be spoilers contained in all of the August episodes, so be forwarned. If you want to avoid spoilers, then skip these next few shows until you're all caught up!

Fan Geeking: Jarsto gives us a little insight into what's gone into the making of "Three-Edged Sword", and working with both Edmund and John on crafting the episodes and the overall arcs of the story.

What you're hearing here on The Babylon Podcast is just a small part of the story... the full audio drama can be heard at Voices of Babylon, so what are you waiting for? Go over and check them out!

Fan Cast: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 9: "The Calm" (TS: 16:30-21:33)

Fan Geeking: Brad tells us how he joined the show, and the work that goes into editing the final product that you, the listeners, will receive over the feed. He also tells us how he's used "The Lost Tales" to reel in his girlfriend Christina as a new fan of Babylon 5, and the appeal the series has for him, even after all this time.

Listener Feedback: We have voicemails! Bronzethumb in Australia gives a rundown on how he introduces potential new viewers to B5, and wonders about the correlations between B5 and Lord of the Rings; Gary from Jacksonville has a run of voicemails to close out the feedback segment.

Listener Feedback: And there was much commentary on "Passing Through Gethsemane"

Babylon 5 Information Gathering: Can we and should we mount a Babylon 5 propaganda campaign, in order to get sales of The Lost Tales to the point where Warner really really wants to greelight more volumes of TLT? Let us know...

Are you interested in listening to more Babylon 5 audio drama? Voices of Babylon is coming soon, and maybe you can get your own story out, too.

Also, if you know of a dead B5 website that may be in need of a new home, let Summer know!

Summer would also like to find the long versions of the B5 promos that ran on TNT prior to Season 5, the ones narrated by Keith David... anyone have any old VHS copies of S5 they taped from TNT?

Tim, Summer, and Jeffrey dive right into "Lost Tales" celebration month, and forget any previous plans for separate episodes geeking on TLT... we're going into overdrive coverage of The Lost Tales, and there will be spoilers contained in all the August episodes, so be forwarned. If you want to avoid spoilers, then skip these next few shows until you're all caught up!

Jeffrey gives us a recap of the Los Angeles Best Buy release party event, attended by Tracy Scoggins, Bruce Boxleitner, Peter Woodward and Doug Netter. He obtained plenty of video and audio footage covering the event, so stay tuned for clips!

Interview: Bruce Boxleitner joins us to talk about his experiences filming The Lost Tales, and doing promotions for it at the adventure now known as Comic-Con.

Bruce recounts working with Peter Woodward, Tracy Scoggins and newcomer Keegan MacIntosh and the fun of portraying an older, wiser and more sage President Sheridan; the bane that was the sock puppets; and the resurgence of interest in TRON, even all these years (and advancements in CG) later.

Fan Cast: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 7: "Word Gets Out" (TS: 43:34-49:19)

Jerseys Are Go! Interested? Let us know if you'd place a pre-order!

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

Shameless related begging: Summer's working on an idea for that essay collection on Babylon 5. If you'd be interested in buying one if they did do a B5 collection, let Summer know, either here in comments, or over in the Babylon Podcast forums.

There's a box of Babylon 5 novels sitting here, books that were rescued from unknown fates at used bookstores in his area by Brad from the PodCulture podcast. The B5 library collection grows... if you have a request, send it in.

		<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #75!

Summer, Tim C, Jeffrey and Michael are joined in studio by Tim A, and wonder of wonders, we have Jeffrey in his own studio, on his own microphone setup, and wow!

Jeffrey announces that the Babylon Podcast has been invited to attend an in-store signing in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of "The Lost Tales" DVD, and to also include some of the pomp and circumstance as part of an upcoming show. He will be bringing his camera and talking to the "Lost Tales" cast members.

Special Report: We have a "Lost Tales" DVD teasers!! No spoilers here, unless you count Summer's descriptions of some of the running jokes in the extras to be spoilers. There will be a Deep Geeking episode about "The Lost Tales" going out as a separate show.

Deep Geeking: This week, Summer, Tim the First One and Tim the Younger dive into Deep Geeking#8482; for the episode "Passing Through Gethsemane". Jeffrey said he'd participate, he may again have been stunned by the geeking details.

First, Lyta returns from Vorlon space, and announces that Kosh has requested that she be his assistant and also a liasion for the Vorlons.

Second, a member of Brother Theo's order is haunted by memories he can't account for, and events unfold that bring up the questions of what makes a person: their mind, their spirit, or their memories? What are the implications of a "death of personality" as a form of capital punishment?

This episode has one of the deeper theological threads running through it, and we dig into that thread pretty deeply... belief and faith, spirituality and religion, and the nature of forgiveness.

Fan Cast: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 6: "Preparations" (TS: 42:40-47:25)

Listener Feedback: Jeffrey confuses alien monks in burlap with this episode's monks before we dive into email submissions. Edmund corrects himself about where the Triluminaries came from and how they were distributed throughout time. Tim reads comments from emails and from the forums, and reads the Top Ten Reasons why JMS won't come on the show for an interview, and Summer reminds folks of JMS' reasons why; Catelyn comments on growing up without Star Trek being the dominant (or only) SF show on TV to watch; Asana loves the fan fiction being presented here, and wonders where we'll go once the episodic coverage has been completed.

Tim C recommends David Gerrold's "The Man Who Folded Himself" as good reading for those interested in the paradoxes of time travel, and we still haven't figured out how we're integrating the novels into the Deep Geeking here on the show.

Are you interested in listening to more Babylon 5 audio drama? Voices of Babylon is coming soon, and maybe you can get your own story out, too.

Also, if you know of a dead B5 website that may be in need of a new home, let Summer know!

Jeffrey is zipping along the highway again, while Tim C and Tim A drool over the four nominations that the Babylon Podcast received for the 2007 Parsec Awards. While Tim C has put out the call for fan suggestions for segments to submit for judging consideration, the deadline for us to submit those segments was Monday, July 23rd, so while you're welcome to submit suggestions for your favorite segments to include for submission, we can't use them anymore for this year.

Jeffrey announces that the Babylon Podcast has been invited to attend an in-store signing in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of "The Lost Tales" DVD, and to also include some of the pomp and circumstance as part of an upcoming show.

Special Report: We finally have a "Lost Tales" DVD sighting!!

Deep Geeking: This week, Tim the First One and Tim the Younger dive into DeepGeeking#8482; for the episode "A Day in the Strife".

First, the station is threatened with destruction by an alien probe unless they can submit a detailed and complicated series of technological, scientific and mathematic problems. If they answer everything correctly, they are told they'll receive an untold bounty of advanced technology, and if they answer even one question incorrectly, they'll be destroyed.

Second, G'Kar is coerced into relinquishing his position and sanctuary on Babylon 5, but the Narns on the station convince him that his best choice is to stay put and continue doing what he's been doing with the resistance.

In an around all this is a labor dispute that Sheridan's having trouble resolving. All in a day's work.

Fan Cast: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 5: "Schroedinger's Narn" (TS: 27:25-32:17)

Listener Feedback: fund-raising slogans for "Kosh for President 2008" campaign; Bowling in Grey Sector or Lifeforms in Thirdspace? You decide... Gary from Jacksonville comments on #71 and what Londo may or may not have seen in the Zen Garden; Number 12 muses on the similarities in Delenn's and Londo's paths and choices, and where those similarities diverged; Gary on #72 and the arrival of Marcus; Number 12 on an alternate theory on why Londo did not see anything when Kosh rescued Sheridan; Gary commenting again on possibilities and implications in "Comes the Inquisitor"; Colin asks Jeffrey on his thoughts about a CGI G'Kar and the possibility of JMS ever going that route.

Are you interested in listening to a Babylon 5 audio drama? Voices of Babylon is coming soon...

Summer has been temporarily assigned to the Babcast embassy on Minbar, so Edmund from Greenville (Number 6) and Tim Adamec join Jeffrey and Tim. Jeffrey announces that he's been the subject of the shortest "E! True Hollywood Story" episode ever; please let us know if you happen to catch it.

Jeffrey also has his eye on using The Playboy Mansion as the "Kosh for President" headquarters. And we're still waiting on our copy of "The Lost Tales" so we can tell you all about it!

Deep Geeking: This week, Tim the First One, Edmund, and Tim the Younger engage in DeepGeeking#8482; on the episode "Convictions".

What on the surface seems to be a run-of-the-mill mad bomber story reveals deeper themes once the boys dive in. We giggle over the marvelous scenes in the wrecked transport tube between Londo and G'Kar. We discover that this episode provides a springboard to discuss the evolution of Lennier's character. We enjoy the arrival of Brother Theo and his Dominican brothers on the station, and wish that we had seen more of them throughout the series. Carlson, the episode's villain manages to transcend stereotype to become, as Tim the Younger says, hyperreal. And Michael Vejar's camera work adds dynamism to the visuals.

Fan Cast: The Three-Edged Sword Episode 4: "Shifting Currents" -- An obvious alliance between the EAS Netherlands and the Narn forces might be undermined by a power play from the Psi Corps. (TS: 37:43-43:10)

Listener Feedback: technical glitches with the Stellarcom system leaves only one voice mail from... Edmund from Greenville. (Poor Trampas - he gets no love from the Three-Edged Sword.) But we have emails to make up for it. Caitlin gives us love and encourages Jeffrey in his conflict with The Duck. Loz in the UK wonders about the changes in Marcus from his introduction in "Matters of Honor" through "Voices of Authority". Kathy Mary fires off three geek questions; good thing there are geeks on hand to answer. John in Glendale crows over his purchase of B5 DVD sets from Sam's Club. Isaac Lin comments on Mike's observation regarding faith and Londo. Mike's smart! Mike Tuck is jonesing for an interview. Michael O'Hare, pretty please? Tracy Herrick expresses admiration for JMS' ability to drop the end of the saga at the beginning of the saga. The Harlequin and the Tick-Tock Man finally see eye to eye.

Tim, Summer and Jeffrey muse on the imaginative creations that the storylines in Season 3 may inspire, and Jeff is pleased to learn that he's finally being officially credited as being "Kosh" on the show over at http://babylon5.warnerbros.com. And we are working on having some special guests in the upcoming weeks, so Stay Tuned!

And never doubt the power of the Wiki.

Fancast: EAS Netherlands, Operation Dutch Courage report from Operative #6

Deep Geeking: This week, Tim and Summer talk about the Season 3 opener, "Matters of Honor", beginning with the stunning spoiler in the opening that showed one Starfury opening fire on another, along with Ivanova's voiceover "Our last, best hope for peace... it failed," the new theme and incidental music, the arrival of the White Star, and more.

One of the biggest immediate changes for Season 3 is the arrival of Marcus, and Babylon 5's deeper and more open involvement in the proxy struggle between the Vorlons and the Shadows. His arrival marks the first step in direct confrontation against the Shadows, and the start of testing themselves for the larger battles to come.

We also have a representative of Special Intelligence, Mr. Endawi, visiting that station to investigate the Shadow vessel in the video footage Lt Keffer shot before his demise. His inquiries result in a variety of responses, including Londo's fear of seeing them in a dream, and G'Kar's description of them from a thousand years ago.

Endawi's report back to a senator at Earthdome is met with satisfaction by Morden and a Psi Cop, given that his instructions were "to find out what the other races know about the ship." A secondary plan is also mentioned, which opens a whole second can of worms for us to deal with in Season 4.

Did Delenn lie about her knowledge of the Shadows and their vessels, or did she just narrowly define the truth for this particular case?

What did you think about the addition of Marcus to the regular crew?

And what are your thoughts on the interior and exterior designs of the White Star? Discuss amongst yourselves and tell us what you think.

Fancast: EAS Netherlands, Report from T'jon

Listener Feedback: Negative results from the Mailbox Report. Check out Jarsto's performance on SciFi Smackdown Episode 5: X-Wings vs X-Wings, and their voicemail show should be coming up soon.

comments on how Kosh was able to appear differently to all the different races; Kurt weighs in the philosophical and theological theories on why Londo can't "see" Kosh; Kurt again with a S3 blooper on Londo's response to what he saw in the garden; Dave from PA submits an audio montage to explain how Jarsto has invaded his brain and won't go away (it wasnt't a Jarsto project); asks Jeffery if he has any anecdotes from when Jerry Doyle was campaigning for office, since Kosh is now running for President; Trampas comments on the "Comes the Inquisitor" discussion, and other references in the series to Jack the Ripper.

Are you interested in listening to a Babylon 5 audio drama? Let us know...

<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #71! It's our longest show yet. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Tim and Summer welcome Jeffrey back, and apparently he's lost his underwear. Or something like that. Tim gives us a report that JMS has turned in a draft of the eagerly anticipated Silver Surfer movie, and how he might not have as much time on his hands to devote to upcoming volumes of The Lost Tales.

Deep Geeking: This week, Tim and Summer talk about "The Fall of Night". Once again, the geeking runs long. There really is too much here to contain in one tiny podcast, but we do try to cover all bases, including a dive into the deeper end of theology when Mike wonders whether the vast pantheon of Centauri Gods means that as a race they don't have enough faith to have seen Kosh's manifestation of a divine being.

Yes, we forgot to talk about Keffer and his untimely yet domino-toppling demise.

Keffer is gone now, but his exploits and his sacrifice will not be forgotten, at least not for a few more episodes into Season 3. As with everything else, it's the thought that counts.

Listener Feedback: Remember, the FarPoint tag is officially spelled "boohkie", all because Google kept pulling up websites for bookmakers. Make a note of it. And we really really start to plant the seeds of temptation to get Tim to move to Phoenix, thanks to Valerie's bliss.

Cooking with Kosh. The Voting Pebbles Action Committee. All your Vote are Belong to Us. 'Nuff said.

Are you waiting for a Babylon 5 audio drama? Let us know...

Hey, if you know of a dead B5 website that may be in need of a new home, let Summer know!

Summer would also like to find the long versions of the B5 promos that ran on TNT prior to Season 5, the ones narrated by Keith David... anyone have any old VHS copies of S5 they taped from TNT?

Jerseys Are Go! Interested? Let us know if you'd place a pre-order!

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

Shameless related begging: Summer's working to convince any publisher to do an essay collection on Babylon 5.

Deep Geeking: This week, Tim and Summer talk about "Comes the Inquisitor". Tim and Summer are here, but Jeffrey is in Mexico. We think he's doing research into how the destruction of the agave crops may impact the world's tequila supply. Summer also mentions that she has a copy of Claudia Christian's memoir, sent to the studio by Yard Dog Press.

Michael is also fascinated by the pencil sketch of Claudia included in the memoir, drawn by Douglas Shuler.

This is also a show where being in the chatroom listening to the live feed pays off. The universe can do funny things from time to time, and this is one of those times. Instead of having a regular show, tonight will be all talk with chatroom regulars.

First up, is Lambo, co-host of The AstroCast, and he tells us how he got into B5, and how his fascination with the story of "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" led him to assert that Sinclair was truly Valen years earlier than the rest of us.

Next, Jan from Denmark defies the late/early hours and joins us in teasing Tim about his phone connection, and shares how he became hooked on B5. He tells us about how the series was aired in Denmark, making it a little more work to get the story in full. He also laments missing out on the con experience so far, and what appealed most to him about the story presented in the show.

Lastly, we talk to frequent commenter Gary from Jacksonville, who we seemingly have inspired to not only record segments to send in to the Babylon Podcast, but maybe to eventually create a podcast of his own.

Gary tells us about he was a hardcore Trek fan and how his hardline stance against any other SF TV franchise was changed by viewing 5am TNT reruns of B5, and how he went online on dialup to gather the episodes he'd missed to see them. Luckily for him, the DVDs came out and he was able to scarf them all. He also tells us about his comic book collecting, his B5 collecting, and a few things in between.

Hey, if you know of a dead B5 website that may be in need of a new home, let Summer know!

Listener Feedback: Remember, the FarPoint tag is officially spelled "boohkie", all because Google kept pulling up websites for bookmakers. Make a note of it.

James in Dallas explains his theories on why there's more than one Zathras, which leads to all sorts of crazy speculation on temporal distortions and duplication of living creatures; Kurt in St George counters Tim's opinions on "Divided Loyalties"; Edmund phones in a comment about the connections between B5 and events in WWI, WWII, and other historical events; wishes for a History Channel documentary on Babylon 5 like the existing ones for Star Trek and Star Wars. We also intercept a report from Operative Six on the appearance of the alternate personality that we talked to last week, and play a report from Citizen T'jon's commentary about guests on the show.

Summer would also still like to find the B5 specials that aired on TNT and SciFi Channel, especially the long versions of the ads that ran on TNT, the ones narrated by Keith David.

		<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #67!

Summer, Jeffrey and guest commentator Edmund Boys talk about Tim being missing in action this episode, and also open the doors to the burgeoning availability of Jeff's B5 collectibles. Summer will have to figure out a way to arrange travel to Los Angeles, so she can catalog Jeff's stash and help him sell those items to Babylon Podcast listeners and then to the greater B5 collector community.

And Jeff proposes that we need to have sex. A lot of it. For a week or so... nothin' but sex. As a platform for "Kosh for President". On the Green ticket (not on the Purple ticket). Discuss. It's out of hand, but try to discuss anyway.

Deep Geeking: This week's episode is "Divided Loyalties", and even though Tim has been vocal in the past about his displeasure with this episode, he really has a good reason for not being present to voice his reasons live.

So Summer and special guest Edmund Boys discuss the episode, and Tim submits his opinions and comments via a pre-recorded statement. Since Tim isn't there to rebut our refutations to his explanations, Summer and Tim win this round of the argument.

In "Divided Loyalties", we see Rangers go to desperate measures to warn the station's command staff of the presence of a spy, including bringing Lyta back to the station, at risk to her freedom since she's been reclassified as a rogue. We also see a little more interaction and deepening of the relationship between Sheridan and Delenn.

The sudden heating up of the relationship between Susan and Talia, and the unmasking of the spy (as well as how they'd remained hidden so long) are all wrapped up a little too fast for the tastes of most die-hard fans, but given the pending cast changes at the time, JMS did a pretty fine job with what he had to work with in such a short time frame.

Listener Feedback: Just for the record, the FarPoint tag is officially spelled "boohkie", all because Google kept pulling up websites for bookmakers. Make a note of it.

Jerseys Are Go! Interested? Let us know if you'd place a pre-order!

This week we field voicemails from John in NC about batting cage sound effects; Kurt from the ScapeCast chimes in on the appropriate equipment for the Narn Bat Squad; Kurt again, back to recount the story on how he missed seeing "Knives" the first time around; Kurt one more time, with details on what happened to Sol to cause the events we see in "Deconstruction of Falling Stars"; Eric from NY wants a Purple football jersey with "E. Smith" as the name; Jim from Brookline on football jerseys over baseball jerseys.

Nerf Bats or Pugil Sticks?

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

There's a box of Babylon 5 novels sitting here, books that were rescued from unknown fates at used bookstores in his area by Brad from the PodCulture podcast. The B5 library collection grows... if you have a request, send it in.

		<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #65!

Summer and Tim C are joined by Tim A and Mike, and boy, do we miss Jeffrey.

Tim C has a bone to pick with Yard Dog Press: in publishing Claudia Christian's memoir, they used a ST:TOS font on the cover of her book. Whoopsie. Tim also reads an update on what happened to the Babylon 5 fiction novels that had been set to be published by Mongoose.

About the Babylon Podcast swag: we've changed our minds... it's going to be BASEBALL jerseys, not football jerseys, and YES dammit, you will be able to choose what color jersey you want to wear. I'm putting my foot down on that, because I don't want to make things too difficult on the people running the shop.

Deep Geeking: This episode revolves around geeking on "Knives".

We open with Sheridan and Garibaldi decompressing over batting practice, talking about mysterious circumstances in Down Below, and segueway into an apparent threat on Londo after he and Vir share a light musical moment.

We learn much about what's been happening back on Centauri Prime, with the machinations and consolidations of power within new factions after the previous Emperor's death, after Londo's old dueling partner, Urza Jaddo, arrives at B5 begging for help in clearing his name and helping his house survive the political attacks.

Unfortunately for Urza, despite Londo's rising star, he's not in a position to help Urza save his position... and desperate men go to desperate measures to protect those they love.

Meanwhile, Sheridan experiences several attacks on his mind while learning the truth about what really happened to Babylon 4 (contrary to the official reports that had been filed). What his hitchhiker was and where it was really from, we may never know, but it won't be the last time we encounter the time-space rift in Sector 14.

Listener Feedback: Just for the record, the FarPoint tag is officially spelled "boohkie", all because Google kept pulling up websites for bookmakers. Make a note of it.

Edmund comments on foreshadowing in dialogue in the show, and he wants baseball jerseys, too; Jarsto has an idea for a companion show to The Babylon Podcast, and doesn't give us any more info about that; Edmund loved the Tim Earls interview, and comments on elements in B5 that may have been flavored by old school British SF. Tim reads emails from Tracy about Green and Purple jerseys, and potential brawls at conventions; from Matt in Michigan on being unable to workout properly while laughing one's ass off during The Jarsto Show, and on his search for Jeanne Cavelos' B5 novels; Colin gives us some info from the novels on what happened to the keeper in the urn, in response to Tim A's questions; Galen is behind in the shows, but wonders where the Vorlons came from.

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

Summer, Tim C and Tim A banter, and gee, I guess you really, really missed me!

Tim C and Summer both managed to score copies of Babylon 5 Script Book Volume 11, thanks to generous contributions from our listeners. It's a lovely and much appreciated act, and we both truly thank you all.

We will also be receiving a review release of "The Lost Tales" DVD, so we will be providing you with a full review of the film and the DVD contents. Don't hate us... we're doing this for you, our listeners!

Deep Geeking: This episode revolves around geeking on "In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum", a pivotal second season episode that remains a powerful episode to watch even after all these years.

We move from a casual observation that Morden, a dead man, has been seen doing business on the station, through a potential diplomatic rescue by the Centauri, through the borderline alienation of key station personnel, to an intervention by Delenn and Kosh, all to prevent an irate and obssessed Sheridan from breaking Morden and obtaining too much truth too soon about what the Shadows are and what they're up to.

Listener Feedback: Just for the record, the FarPoint tag is officially spelled "boohkie", all because Google kept pulling up websites for bookmakers. Make a note of it.

Edmund comments on the Shadows being behind the escalation of the Drazi's green/purple conflict; Gary from Jacksonville sends a priority Gold Channel request for Summer's return to the mic; Gary again, with yet another call for a Babylon Podcast Fan Show... Yikes?

Do you want to see any Babylon Podcast swag? If you're interested in buying FarPoint Media podcast related swag, let us know. I definitely want to use the name "Sunhawks" as the team name for the purple and green Babylon Podcast football jerseys.

I don't know think it would be a licensing infringement for using the name, but use of any Drazi logo probably would be. I'm still trying to find out who to talk to about that.

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

Once again, the boys are loose in the studio all by themselves. Michael and Tim Adamec join Tim Callender and Jeffrey Willerth, and we're still not sure what they're up to.

The release date for "The Lost Tales, Volume 1" has been announced: July 31, 2007, and is currently available for pre-order! Go order your copy now!! And, Warner Bros may be showing the podcast a little love... we'll let you know when we know.

Bonus: Tim Callender has a bit of fan fiction appearing in a recent episode of Geek Fu Action Grip. It's about "Hell", but also references B5... how can you go wrong?

Interview: Tim and Summer chat with SF author Jeanne Cavelos about her contributions to the Babylon 5 universe: the novels "The Shadow Within", and the Passing of the Technomages trilogy.

She tells us about her approach to writing about the mages when her first impression of them wasn't the most favorable, and about playing in a universe so lovingly detailed by JMS. She also gives us her insight into Galen's character, and the changes he went through, leading into "Crusade".

And it seems like everyone has a crush on the Vorlon...

Listener Feedback: Edmund comments on the Jarsto guest spot, Vorlon bondage sketches, and volunteers to sit in for Tim if ever necessary; Edmund again, commenting on "And Now For A Word..." and the historical references behind the character names.

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

Tim and Jeffrey are joined by Jarsto this week. That's right... Jarsto has muscled his way onto the main show. Actually, he's graciously accepted our offer to fill in for a very ill Summer, and having his B5 knowledge and insight available live on-the-fly is a wonderful treat.

This is what happens when Summer isn't around, and the boys begin to play. Play with what, you really don't want to know.

Deep Geeking: Tim and Jarsto talk about the entertaining and revealing episode "And Now For A Word", where an ISN news crew is sent to the station to do a routine "36 Hours" report, and end up being caught in the crossfire as Babylon 5 gets caught in the middle of the shooting war between the Narn and the Centauri.

Interpreting the differences in how the characters act under pressure with cameras around than in the situations we've seen them in previously can be an interesting contrast.

"And Now For A Word" is available for download from iTunes.

Listener Feedback: Jarsto responds to... his own voicemail... weird; Edmund comments on the Jeanne Cavelos chat, an interview that hasn't officially aired yet, and muses on Harlan Ellison and Neil Gaiman playing in JMS' universe.

What are your thoughts on having a section where folks can find B5 novels for those who are looking for them?

Tim Callender, Summer and Tim Adamec chat about their thoughts on the upcoming "Lost Tales", because we don't have any official new news to talk about. More polygons!

Deep Geeking: Tim C. and Summer talk about the entertaining and revealing episode "There All The Honor Lies", wherein Sheridan is lured into being suspected of murdering a Minbari, and many secrets and half-truths are shaken out during the course of investigating what happened.

We get a glimpse of the divide between the Minbari, in terms of Delenn's change and their opinion of Sheridan now running the station, a taste of the complications of merchandising and how that impacts diplomatic relations, and a deeper look into the relationship between Londo and Vir.

Idealistcally, the truth will out, despite the many nuances surrounding Minbari honor and holding to the truth of things. And remember, there is always beauty in the dark.

"There All The Honor Lies" is available for download from iTunes.

Listener Feedback: Bill in Chicago on outtakes; Bill again, with appreciation for the podcast and a Kosh joke; Kosh likes Spam? Edmund in Greenville muses the possibilities; Super Scotty on Zima; Tim reads an email from Pavel on the Top 5 and Bottom 5 episodes of the series, and that leads into an argument about why "Day of the Dead" should not be classified amongst the worst of the series.

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

There's a box of Babylon 5 novels sitting in the Draco Vista Studios, books that were rescued from unknown fates at used bookstores in his area by Brad from the PodCulture podcast. Once I get them unboxed and sorted, we'll figure out a way to get them to new homes.

Tim Adamec gives us his thoughts and impressions on Babylon 5, since he's a new convert to the series, and newly introduced by immersion to the show. We also throw out the idea of creating "Babylon 5 New Viewer's Guide", and how best to introduce a new fan to the show without running the potential risk of losing them by starting with Season 1.

Interview: Tim, Summer and Jeff talk with conceptual artist Tim Earls and his work on Babylon 5 for several seasons.

Tim tells us how he came to be part of Babylon 5, and some of the things he's designed and redesigned for the show. His background in architecture led to being an art director for short-lived software company, but his love has always been for space ships, and scribbling in the margins.

Tim tells us all about his experiences and designs on the series, and compares it to the work he did on "Crusade" and more recently, storyboarding for "The Lost Tales". He's also done work on the pilot for "Firefly", the movie Serenity, "Star Trek: Voyager", and more. His work can also be seen in the upcoming 4th "Die Hard" movie later this summer.

Tim's favorite ship design for B5 is the Warlock battle cruiser, which we may see some goodies about in the future, but for now, fans are going to have to settle for the lovely set of "Serenity" blueprints, soon to be available from Quantum Mechanix Replicas.

How I wish we'd had this photo before the interview, because there's no way Browncoats would have treated him in such a fashion.

Listener Feedback: Tim reads an email from Pavel, who's ecstatic about finally seeing Jeffrey Willerth's name in the credits in "Hour of the Wolf", and wants to know why his name hadn't appeared before the 4th season; Trampas Whiteman from Dragonlance Canticle and SciFi Smackdown treats us to some B5-themed poetry.

If you'd be interested in buying one if they did do a B5 collection, let Summer know, either here in comments, or over in the Babylon Podcast forums.

Deep Geeking: No Deep Geeking this episode. It's all voicemail, kids!

Listener Feedback: Elias makes another connection between "Infection" and "All Alone in the Night": Marshall Teague played Nelson and Ta'Lon; Gary from Jacksonville comments on Bruce Boxleitner's guest appearance on CBS' "Cold Case"; we're treated to a Londo-G'Kar montage; Gary from Jacksonville also comments on products from Mongoose Publishing; Edmund from Greenville comments on "All Alone in the Night" and the power shift that results from the imbalance created on the Grey Council; comments on Summer's comments that Kosh didn't know about Lorien being at Z'ha'dum and why Lorien's waiting for someone; Edmund comments on the SuperNova podcast featuring Mira Furlan, and her insights about JMS' use of the real conflict in the Balkans to infuse the fictional conflict between the Narn and Centauri; Chris from NZ reveals that he never knew Zima was a real and actual product that people consumed in a fit of insanity, and he's happy he never drank it; T'jon of the Narn Regime accuses Jarsto of being a Centauri agent attempting to hijack the Babylon Podcast and other FarPoint Media productions; Martin in England lets us know how B5 was aired on Channel 4 back during it's original run, and the nods JMS inserted for the British viewers; Jarsto laments the overuse of puns; Edmund defends the practice of taping TV shows to cassette to listen to later; Curt in St George comments on the similarity between the dream sequence in "All Alone in the Night" and the dream sequence in "Twin Peaks", and makes the B5 connection with "Twin Peaks" by using The Hidden which guest starred Claudia Christian.

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

Vote for us! Let's get this show's rank into The Pickle's Top 100!

Shameless related begging: Summer's also really hoping to convince any publisher to eventually do an essay collection on Babylon 5. If you'd be interested in buying one if they did do a B5 collection, let Summer know, either here in comments, or over in the Babylon Podcast forums.

Jeffrey tells us all about his newest project, producing episodes for HGTV's "Over Your Head". Then, for some reason, we venture into Vorlon-morphed TV show names, and that game continues in the chatroom for at least 20 more minutes after we cut to the first break.

Brad from Podculture is busy adopting B5 novels that he's finding in used book stores in his area, and we'll have those available. Not sure how yet, but we'll figure something out.

Deep Geeking: Tim and Summer delve into discussion about "Hunter, Prey". In this episode, Sheridan begins to deal directly with Kosh, and the staff begins to wonder more closely about the hints dropped about Vorlon ship technology.

After being informed that Dr Everett Jacobs, the former presidential physician, is a wanted fugitive, and initiating a search for him by station security, Sheridan learns that all that he has been told about Jacobs may not be what it seems. He was reluctant to believe in Franklin's support of Jacobs, until being informed by a liasion from General Hague that Jacobs is being hunted because he may possess information damaging to Clark's given rationale for leaving Earth Force One before it exploded.

We also see Kosh begin to interact more with Sheridan, and even deign to instruct him in the finer points of being himself.

"Hunter, Prey" is available for download from iTunes.

Listener Feedback: It's all email, all the time for this show. Jefferson in the UK chimes in for Jeff's call for UK listeners; Loz comments on GROPOS and who's sleeping (or not sleeping) around; Greg clarifies the content in a few of the necessary of B5 novelizations; Katrina in PA wants to know what our Top 5 and Bottom 5 shows for the entire series might be; Tim wants to know what Jeff's personal Top 5 and Bottom 5 in terms of production were.

Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think... and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

Deep Geeking: Tim and Summer delve into discussion about "Acts of Sacrifice". Please pardon the crappy Skype connection that Summer had to use instead of a Gold Channel connection.

G'Kar is faced with insubordination from the Narn on the station, who want to exact revenge against Centauri citizens for the great losses of Narn civilian lives in several attacks. The command staff is trying to figure out how to still deal with Londo in a diplomatic fashion, and that strain is reflected in the previously genial relationship between Londo and Garibaldi.

Ivanova is given another diplomatic task, in negotiating an alliance with a very quirky and standoffish race, the Lumati. Their belief that interaction with species that they believe are inferior is a weakness that Susan is able to exploit in order to get out of a particularly distasteful side requirement for the deal.

"Acts of Sacrifice" is available for download from iTunes.

Deep Geeking: Tim and Summer delve into discussion about "All Alone in the Night", which by Tim's definition is the second season's equivalent of "Infection".

A previously unmentioned alien race, The Streibs, kidnap Sheridan while he's out searching for the cause of several reported ship disappearances in the sector. He's tortured and forced to battle other captives for his survival.

Delenn is summoned to Minbar to face the Grey Council and answer for her actions in going forward with her transformation without express permission or approval from them. Tensions escalate when she discovers that a member of the Warrior Caste has taken her place on the council, upsetting the balance on the Council makeup.

General Hague brings the Agammemnon to bear in the rescue effort to retrieve Sheridan from his captors, thanks to information provided by a returning Delenn.

We ponder the significance of Sheridan's dream... was it a dream or was it a telepathic barrage of messages sent by Kosh? And exactly when was Sheridan approached by Hague to evaluate the station staff and where their loyalties lie? Has he always been aligned with those in the military who've been suspicious of Clark ever since Santiago's assassination?

"All Alone in the Night" is available for download from iTunes.

Jeffrey's back in LA, and is confused about his holidays. We are really running thin with the Kosh puns, aren't we? Tim and Jeffrey wax poetic about NASCAR track experiences and memories, and who knew that Jeff raced?

Deep Geeking: Tim and Summer delve into discussion about "GROPOS", an episode that at first blush seems to be a filler episode, but instead is one that sets up a few threads of unresolved emotional connections to be dealt with later.

The station is subjected to an unexpected influx of 25,000 troops, ground-pounders -- GROPOS -- who are told they are on their way to a standard rotation to Io, but are in fact on their way to a potentially questionable battle at the request of an alien government. Their commanding officer, General Franklin, is Dr Franklin's estranged father, and their emotional strain is present the entire time.

While Sheridan thinks that Earthforce's choice to respond to the Akdorian request is a bad idea, because he believes the rebel fortress is nearly impregnable, not without a lot of losses on the side of the attacking force. He's committed to helping the General plan an attack, but he makes certain that his opinion is noted.

Garibaldi and Keffer connect in positive ways with some of the troopers during their short stay on the station, but despite hopes and promises, the new friends they've made meet with disaster during the battle. The relief and joy for those who survived are a marked contrast with the grief and loss felt by those whose friends were killed in action.

"GROPOS" is available for download from iTunes.

Listener Feedback: Jarsto comments on Show #53, especially the contrast in behaviors between G'Kar and Londo and Refa; Gary from Jacksonville wants input on where Talia might have progressed had she stayed on the show; Alan from the UK thanks us for getting him hooked on Babylon 5, despite his misgivings about the CGI; Edmund from Greenville comments on the "Coming of Shadows" discussion is Show #53. Tim reads emails from Joshua, who gives an unlikely theory behind the appearance of a Morden doppleganger in "The Gathering"; Katrina comments on Matt Stoner's possible involvement in the assassination attempt on Londo in "Soul Mates"; Roz sends a response to Jarsto to us... um, wait... when did we become Jarsto's message service?! Warlord gives us canonical proof from "The Shadow Within" that it was not Morden stationed on B5 in "The Gathering".

Jeffrey's back from Houston, where he met with listeners John and Satyajit, who have their own show called AstroCast, a podcast dedicated to the Houston Astros. They treated Jeff to a round of Buttery Nipples. He also throws out the welcome mat to other fans of the show who would like to treat him to a drink when he's traveling around.

Interview: Maggie Egan ("Jane", ISN Anchor)

Tim, Summer and Jeffrey engage in a delightful chat with Maggie Egan, who was the familiar and comforting face of ISN before and after the Clark Administration ran riot over Earth Gov.

She gives us an update on her latest projects: a creative ad spot for CBS's "Without A Trace", and a guest spot on FOX's "Standoff". The episode she's in is slated to air in March, so if you watch it and you like the show, let FOX know that you'd like to see more of her! We learn about the differences between auditioning for commercials and auditioning for TV and film, the differences in stresses and relationships and expectations. And the money...

She then regales us with tales of auditioning for B5, and the fun of returning to the set time and again, with being surprised to come back to the series after she thought she'd been blown up, and her surprise at discovering at a convention that her character actually had a name! Tim and Summer both relate how much her performance resonated with how anchors should make people feel, and in making the series feel a little more real.

Maggie also tells us about the disapperance of her domain, and how she's been lacking a website for several years now, which leads to all sorts of calls for tech help and offers for assistance. In the end, Summer ended up registering MaggieEgan.net for her, and will be putting together a new site for Maggie (right in the middle of doing websites for a whole slew of new FarPoint Media shows).

Listener Feedback: Gary from Jacksonville muses on whether Timov was modeled after Angela Lansbury in "Murder, She Wrote"; Gary again, commenting on how maybe we should have picked up Talia's secret much earlier; Jenn from Dreamwatch mentions the JMS mailing list, which is an email digest of the posts available at JMS News, and Summer really does want to add more B5 related links to the site here; Jarsto comments on "Soul Mates" and the relationship progression between Susan and Talia; Gary from Jacksonville thinks that "The Long Dark" was merely a Dr Franklin romantic filler episode; Gary wants details on the podcast's Season 2 pickup; Edmund geeks over hearing his own voicemail. Tim reads emails from Roz, who's disappointed in a lack of B5 content in a show (but we don't know which one) and the appearance of too many insider remarks; Craig loves the show and caught up on missed episodes in a flash.

Shameless related begging: Summer's also really hoping to convince the publisher to eventually do a collection on Babylon 5. If you'd be interested in buying one if they did do a B5 collection, let Summer know, either here in comments, or over in the Babylon Podcast forums.

So, how do you like that shiny new Season 2 inspired intro?

Jeffrey's impressed by the new intro, and can't help himself when it comes to the Vorlon jokes, and Summer pimps a product: The OhMibod, a whole new way to plug'n'play. Use the coupon code "winginit" when you order by Feb 14, and you'll get $10 off.

Tim and Summer try to elicit a reverent response from Jeffrey about his impact on "The Coming of Shadows", with no luck, although he waxes poetic about Turhan Bey.

Deep Geeking: Tim and Summer move ahead with episode analysis of "The Coming of Shadows", winner of the 1996 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, beating out Apollo 13 and Twelve Monkeys

G'Kar makes a fateful decision when he learns that the Centauri Emperor is coming to Babylon 5 to make an announcement, and intends to exact retribution on behalf of Narn for 100 years of Centauri oppression, but fate intervenes.

After receiving the dying Emperor's message via Dr. Franklin, G'Kar beings to have hope that there may someday be an accord between Narn and Centauri, completely unaware that Londo and Refa have decided to take advantage of the Emperor's collapse to increase their own standing at the royal court, and initiate the first strike in a new Narn-Centauri war.

The dying Emperor receives one of his wishes, to finally see a Vorlon, but the response to his question of Kosh seems to foretell a coming doom, and the news he receives from Londo and Refa only confirms his failure to being to heal the wounds plaguing his society.

Garibaldi confronts a mysterious stranger who's being secretive about his intentions in wanting to talk to him. It's not until later after the message is delivered that more pieces of the larger puzzle come into play, but even then more questions are raised than answered.

"The Coming of Shadows" is available for download from iTunes.

Listener Feedback: Mike from We Are Not Cool on Jarsto's crossover appeal; Jarsto comments on previous episode geeking; Edmund doesn't want to delve into a FarPoint Media show of his own, but he does want to comment on Mike's B5 timekeeping duties and how it all ties back to Harlan Ellison; Jarsto submits a new B5 Haiku.

Shameless related begging: Summer's also really hoping to convince the publisher to eventually do a collection on Babylon 5. If you'd be interested in buying one if they did do a B5 collection, let Summer know, either here in comments, or over in the Babylon Podcast forums.
