<itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #181!
Happy… Koshgiving?
And all of us here send our thoughts and prayers to Peter Woodward and his family, wishing them well after the passing of Edward Woodward.
Space Station. Deorbiting. Flying Debris splashing down. Summer is befuddled, Tim and Jeffrey not so much.
Deep Geeking: Tim, Summer and Jeffrey discuss many of the consquences and the subtexts in “Darkness Ascending”.

We argue for quite a bit about the nature of Garibaldi’s dream, how much was dream and how much was or wasn’t influenced by Lyta’s telepathic curiosity (and whether or not that itself was real or dream), and talk a bit more about Lennier and his mission, and of the telepath DNA deal between Lyta and G’Kar.
And yes, Summer really does want to know if Garibaldi’s BFG-10000 survived production and is squirreled away somewhere, or if it was broken down and recycled after the episode was done.
Feedback: …and the “Day of the Dead” theories continue! We will wear Tim down eventually, and make him one of us. We also take a trip down the voicemail rabbit hole and end up skirting the Star Trek universe along the way.

Interview: Tim, Summer and Jeffrey chat with Brad Dourif, his role as Brother Edward in “Passing Through Gethsemane”, and scifi and horror in general.
Brad reminisces about his time on the show, and tells us how much of a fan he was of the show back then, and much more.
Feedback: Gary wonders too deeply about alternate delivery methods of Zoe’s message from Kosh for Sheridan; Gary still thinks we tagged the WB closing theme to the end of Show #175; Gary seconds Jeffrey’s recommendation that everyone should see at least one Space Shuttle launch in their lifetime; Gary wonders why Jeffrey isn’t mentioned at all in “Babylon 5: A to Z”.
Will Gary get his own Voicemail While Driving show? Stay tuned to find out!

 <itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #154!
Tim has joined the modern Internet age, and has a real Internet connection! His FiOS line makes him sound a lot closer than the transfer point off Io, doesn’t it?
Jeffrey waxes poetic about “Erth Day” and having two shuttles on the launch pad at the same time… and after that who knows where we went. Can something really run off the rails if you’re not sure the rails were ever there to begin with?

Deep Geeking: This week, the Deep Geeking covers “The Very Long Night of Londo Mollari”. The introspective journey that Londo takes, and the one that Lennier is about to take, all start here.
Discussion: Welcome to the Dead Tech segment of The Babylon Podcast!
Paul in Vegas comments on the Crusade soundtrack (he didn’t like it), and waxes nostalgic over the B5 laserdiscs, which leads to Summer’s rant about WB’s handling of the laserdisc releases and into George’s email about laserdisc players; Jeffrey still has a (working?) Betamax deck and wonders if B5 episodes were released on Beta… how many dead formats exist that B5 was released on? Mike thinks he can find old RCA 2″ tape cart promos for B5, and Summer seriously considers asking Mike to download them, but we’ll settle for picture proof of existence.
Jahi in Ithaca liked Gary Cole’s portrayal of Gideon in Crusade, and had no problems with “actor baggage” from other roles… there are a lot of people out there who want more Crusade, a bit of story closure no matter what the medium. What could be the chances of having a new trilogy of novels based in the Crusade universe?
Jeffrey is frightened at the prospect of 3 more years of doing the podcast, but it’s only because he didn’t realize just how much material is still left to cover, and potential interview subjects to track down and talk to!

 <itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #149!
Tim, Summer and Jeffrey try their hands at an Irish brogue, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Jeffrey also serenades us with his guitar when he gets a little distracted by our geeking.
Tim gives us the news about the contest to name the new ISS module that’s heading up. Read here to see the status of the vote — we here at The Babylon Podcast are supporting the Browncoats and the quest to have the winning name be “Serenity”.
the naming contest ended by the time this episode was posted
Contest: We’ve come up with a contest to give away a copy of the B5 Chronologies scriptbook! Can you identify all the voices in the podcast opening montage? If you think you can, submit your entries to contest [at] sliceofscifi [dot] com with the Subject line of Babylon Podcast Chronologies Contest, and include your mailing address.
We need all 12 voices correctly identified and in order, and a single winner will be selected from all the people who submit fully correct entries, and participants who helped with the lines are not eligible to enter this contest… maybe next time, gang.
Submit your entries by midnight Pacific time, March 3rd, and we’ll randomly pick a winner from pool of correct entries live on the live feed on March 4th (extended to March 25th)
Check out the hints for the Chronologies Contest — in acknowledgement that many of the voices might have been hard to discern, we have provided hints.
Deep Geeking: The team gets involved in geeking on “Rising Star”, and musing on when the cast knew whether there’d be a 5th season, and on if that notice came before or after the initial airing of this episode.
Discussion: Summer and Tim succumb to the temptation and try out their best Irish brogues. Tim reads an email from Captain Jaclyn, correcting the info on the release date of the “Asked and Answered” scriptbooks (April 7th, not April 1st).
Gary sends us in a scenario on what it might have sounded like if we had heard the opposing commander’s transmissions during Ivanova’s “I am Death Incarnate” speech; Todd from Grand Rapids thinks he’s figured out why Zima seemed to be so popular in the 23rd century; Neil from Bowie remembers the B5 Mall Tour, and he’s going to try to dig up his memorabilia from his visit to it; Brian in NY submits his guess that the new scriptbooks might contain Lost Tales stories (apparently we’re a little behind in voicemails); Johnny from Michigan comments on Lyta’s “I’m gonna sue somebody” interlude, adding it to the “over the top” category.
Stay tuned next week for a visit from Stephen Furst!

It’s baseball season again, and Jeffrey has already started in on the Dodgers geeking. The conversation really does take a science fiction turn… B5 loves baseball, and Star Trek does not. What’s up with that?
Deep Geeking: “Z minus 7 Days”. After the silliness dies down, Tim and Summer discuss “Shadow Dancing”, the episode that culminates in Sheridan’s and Delenn’s goal to get all of the League Worlds to work together in mutual self-defense against the Shadows. The B-story deals with Franklin dealing with the consequences of his actions and his choices, by literally talking things over with himself. And Jeffrey adds his own perceptions on why the cast (and crew?) were starting to look shaggy and scruffy towards the end of Season 3.
Feedback: Tim reads a comment from Katie on the website, wondering where Jeffrey’s pants got to in the picture on the website. Jeffrey reveals that budget concerns led to people not getting hair cuts, and needing to share the pants allotment. Is that TMI, or what?
Jeffrey also regales us with an anecdote about a guessing game involving Polaroids and boobs. Michael is really trying to insert boobs into every FarPoint Media show… and Summer really doesn’t know if she can make it stop!
Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think… and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.

Summer is still looking for one more of the long versions of the B5 promos that ran on TNT prior to Season 5, the ones narrated by Keith David… anyone have any old VHS copies of S5 they taped from TNT? Specifically, the :30 spots, one featuring Ivanova and the other G’Kar… they were part of the series of ads TNT ran promoting the addition of B5 to their lineup. We have a copy of the G’Kar one, now we’re holding out that someone out there has the Ivanova one!

Tim, Summer and Jeffrey discuss space travel, future plans for the new kosh.org, and of course, the voicemails and emails that have been piling up behind the scenes.
Babylon 5 Information Gathering: Can we and should we mount a Babylon 5 propaganda campaign, in order to get sales of The Lost Tales to the point where Warner really really wants to greelight more volumes of TLT? Let us know…
Also, if you know of a dead or abandoned B5 related website that may be in need of a new home, let Summer know!

 <itunes:summary>Welcome to Show #50!
Wow. 50 episodes. Milestone time! But are the ratings good enough for us to get picked up for our second season? Never fear…
Tim recounts an Apollo 12 Tim Conrad anecdote, from Andrew Chayken’s “A Man on the Moon”, in honor of Jeffrey’s gift last week, and musings about our return to the moon. Jeff recounts an interview with Buzz Aldrin about going back out there, and we all wistfully gaze out into space, and stare at the acreage Michael owns, both on the moon and on Mars.
Pay no attention to the flurry of domain registrations.
Deep Geeking: Tim and Summer move ahead with episode analysis from Season 2 with “Spider in the Web”, another in the line of setup episodes, where some of the threads reach deep into future seasons, and some threads tap dance away, exiting stage left never to be heard from again.
Learning more about the political situation on Mars, and what Taro Isogi and Amanda Carter are hoping to achieve by creating an independent Mars, colors many events later that directly and indirectly affect life on the station and the lives of many of our characters. It’s the first example where we see Sheridan dealing with lies told to him by government officials, and exposure Psi Corps conspiracies and experiments that come back around again.
It’s also the first in what could be considered a Talia Winters trilogy, so to speak, since she’s a major component of these episodes, as well as her relationship with Psi Corps as more questionable Corps behaviors and practices are revealed.
“Spider in the Web” is available for download from iTunes.

Listener Feedback: Trampas lets us know about his Koshmas holiday wishes to get more B5, which he received; Randy from Atlanta comments on Show #45, wanting to know if Tim is the most eclectic geek there is; what does count as good SF cheese these days? Jarsto wants Tim and Jeff to do a Bad Puns podcast so they wouldn’t have to do it here, and maybe the creature entered the coordinates for Z’ha’dum into the guidance system of the Copernicus; Edmund tests his microphone and sumbits praise to Michael’s audio editing prowess (check out Podholes if you want to improve your podcasting); Gary from Jacksonville asks if Tim will be updating the podcast intro for our Season 2, and wants to know what Jeff’s been drinking so he can have some.
Your feedback does matter, and is welcome! You can call us at 206-338-2259, or email us and tell us what you think… and likely hear it played or read on the show. Please try to keep the voicemail comments as brief as possible.
Vote for us! Let’s get this show’s rank into The Pickle’s Top 100!
Shameless related begging: Summer’s also really hoping to convince the publisher to eventually do a collection on Babylon 5. If you’d be interested in buying one if they did do a B5 collection, let Summer know, either here in comments, or over in the Babylon Podcast forums.
