Babylon Podcast: Show #13

Posted 2006-04-26 12:05 am in Shows, Year 1 by Summer

Welcome to Show #13!

Tim, Summer, Jeff and special guest Mur Lafferty join forces to talk to Matthew Sprange, director of Mongoose Publishing.

Mongoose publishes Babylon 5 RPG games, and the upcoming novels and graphic novels, and the gang grills him on jumping into the B5 gaming universe and expanding Mongoose’s involvement with other B5 media. There may also be plans to check out Mongoose at this year’s Origins con.

Next, Tim, Summer and Mur chat about “The War Prayer”, an episode that shows us that not everyone on Earth sees alien influence as a positive thing for Earth’s best interests.

Listener feedback: Josh from Maine asks about the best time to view “In The Beginning”; Matthew has a theory about labels on data crystals, Eric from Finland on Star Wreck and other possible fan films, Dave comments on the fun of Babylon 5, and on how much easier it would be to fit in in that universe.

Don’t forget to send us feedback! You can call us at 206-338-2259 and tell us what you think… and likely hear it played on the show.

Welcome to Show #12!

Tim’s off on vacation, so Summer and Jeff are left to pick up the slack. Next, Tim and Summer chat about “Mind War”, the episode that introduces us to the Psi Cops, and gives us our first long hard look at Earth’s telepaths and the organization designed to control them.

We also play some listener feedback: Michael from Chicago on the use and labeling of data crystals; Alexis from Ohio with thanks for the interviews and episode discussions.

Welcome to Show #11!

Interview: John Iacovelli (Production Designer)

Tim, Summer and Jeff chat with the man mostly responsible for the look we all came to know and love about Babylon 5, production designer John Iacovelli.

John tells us in detail what a production designer does, and tells us about all the other people who helped him get the look. He also shares his experiences on Babylon 5 from the pilot through the spinoffs, including memories of last-minute bootstrapping to get things done.

No episode discussion this week, but we’ll be back in the saddle next time.

Welcome to Show #10!

Interview: Julie Caitlin Brown (”Na’Toth”, “Guinevere Corey”)

Tim and Summer chat with the energetic Julie Caitlin Brown, who shares her Babylon 5 experience, including memories of working with Andreas Katsulas, and the emotional strain of having to leave the show because of a bad reaction to the makeup glue.

Julie also tells us about her current projects, and how Babylon 5 has come back into her life, fresh and new again.

Next, Tim and Summer chat about “Parliament of Dreams”, picking up off a wonderful lead-in from Julie’s first appearance as Na’Toth. Discussion touches on the depths of the alien religious ceremonies and some of the reasons for displaying them, and the intricate interplay between G’Kar, Na’Toth and the courier-assassin Tu’Pari.
