Congratulations Summer on getting hold of this, I was lucky enough that my local comic book store had this when it was first published (being a completist I bought anything with linked with B5).
Its a really interesting read, and it still amazes me some 10 years after its first being published that “real academics” watched B5 and treated it with the respect that “geeks like me” wished sci-fi to be had hoped for all along.
Very cool so far, and I’m bringing it up to the studio tonight so Gary can take a peek at it. As long as he doesn’t leave drool on it
That Cartagia essay is also interesting, and does make me wonder what JMS could have done if we’d had Cartagia around for a few more episodes, or encountered a sprinkling of his antics during Season 3.
Also, in the book, they make mention of an essay on Garibaldi that wasn’t printed in the book because the presenter couldn’t make it to the conference. I want to track that one down, too, for my own completist reasons!

I wish I had more time to digest it, but I found several points the articles made very thought provoking. I’d love to see Tim run with a few of those thoughts.
They are fascinating essays. I’m still working my way through the book, but these are exactly the kind of discourses (and more) that I had in mind for the collections I’ve got percolating in the back of my mind.
Yes, I have a plan.
