I have to toss a shout-out to Gary from Jacksonville for this one.
He’d noticed that more podcasts were adding bells and whistles that enhance the listener experience, such as cute little displays for folks who use the iPhone and iPod Touch.
So, starting with Show #160, people can choose to view the show notes while listening to an episode.
I wonder what other kinds of easter eggs we can come up with…

But awesome idea nonetheless. That was a feature I always missed because I usually had a couple of non-consecutive podcasts on my iPod and never knew why I had chosen a certain one. Thanks for implementing that feature.
Now I just need a new iPod. Or better: the iPhone.
I really justed wanted to see my name on the screen for the Garypaloozas, but if other people can benefit from it in other ways, that’s good too.

BTW: The screenshot shows the ep summary of show 160. Is that one for real? The summary? Or did you just make a mockup? Because that very last sentence is incredibly intriguing.
Yes, that’s for real. If you don’t have an iPhone or iPod Touch, but you’re collecting the podcast in iTunes, and you do a “Get Info”, you’ll see that same text in the Lyrics field.

Yes, I do. That’s why ducked away immediately after writing it 😉 Nah, it was just a question to tease you. I know about the feature inside iTunes, used it quite often. Even though I wish it was searchable. I found myself coming to this site sometimes and using your ‘Search’ function instead so I could get the desired content faster.
It could also be nice to have a direct link to all the episodes that have had cast/crew interviews, they could be listed on a separate page under the name of the guest. If there is such a feature, I’ve missed it. It can be slow and tedious to find those shows from the archives, going through them one by one… as long as we’re throwing suggestions out here. 🙂
That’s actually something that’s been on the drawing board since last year. Adding links to old posts is easier than adding tags to 159 archived MP3 files 🙂
By the way, some of this stuff appears in Windows Media Player when playing the podcasts as well.
