Welcome to Show #170!

Feedbackapalooza: Voicemail highlights this episode: Arkle theorizes on the real reason for some of the fans’ deep dislike of Byron; the three unproduced Crusade scripts are summarized in the Crusade supplement of the Babylon 5 Role Playing Game book… who knew?

Hated Bunny wants to know if the “original trilogy” of novels will be amongst the books we’ll be covering when we start discussing the B5 novels… since those aren’t canon and are most likely the unauthorized books published by Mongoose, it’s doubtful and highly unlikely, since we thought that none of those were ever published; Gary relates to us a reason why 7-years-old may be too young to being indoctrination into Babylon 5; Cathy from the League of Non-Aligned Knitters lets us know that her daughter began watching B5 at 10-years-old, and has watched most of the episodes 5-6-7 times each, and is impressed by her daughter’s geek prowess;

Neil listened to the JMS interview again and notes that the quality of the CGI for when it was done was tops for when it was done, and Summer wonders if the cases for the newly released “repackaged” DVD sets are the same or if they’re redesigned;

In responding to more emails about “Day of the Dead”, the banter devolves into thumb wrestling battles and Rock-Em Sock-Em Robots challenges.

    Just checking: did you receive my e-mail about “Mercy Point”, because it wasn’t read on the feedback episode?

    Huh. I wonder why my Day of the Dead VM didn’t make it. Oh well, what can you do? *shrug*

      I think Tim and I may have to beg Mike to let us run to 90min with the Feedbackapalooza episodes, just so we can at least make a brave attempt to keep up with all the voicemail comments we’ve been getting.

      Can I blame Gary for inspiring everyone to try to match the number of messages he leaves? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I must admit, I kind of expected a bigger laugh to my Pat Tallman in Knightriders comment. I even expected that someone would say “Get over it? Is that what the kids are calling it nowadays?” or something along those lines. I really do overestimate my jokes sometimes. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hey, It’s not fair to talk about me while I was at Dragon*Con meeting Bruce, Tracy, Claudia, Peter, and Stephen, and have the pictures to prove it.

    I’m glad I’m an inspiration to others.

    You misunderstood my phone message about the budget for the Lost Tales DVDs at 41:49 into the podcast. It was that WB had promised a higher budget for the second Lost Tales DVD if he proved they could do the first one. And then the home video department had a feud with the DVD department and they said he’d have to make the second one with the same budget as the first. I hadn’t heard that before your interview with him and this helps explain his pulling away from doing more Lost Tales DVDs.

    Yes, I just now caught up and, of course, have a cent or two to add.

    First of all–I got mentioned on the show, three times! For which many thanks, guys–I feel kind of special now. ๐Ÿ˜€

    About Corwin and all that business… I don’t remember which episode of season five mentions that, but Babylon 5 was bought out by the Alliance, so having someone serving under an Earth Force captain who isn’t part of that force, without it being any sort of moral or ethical problem for the captain, is quite plausible (I think).

    Now, “Day of the Dead” … yes, I cannot possibly NOT comment on /that/ … it might so happen, Tim, that I’ll join Summer in haunting you until you see pink (muhahahaha) or share /our/ point of view. Whichever comes first. Yes, I know–this debate could and possibly will, last forever, but I have to give props where props are due: the intonation with which you’ve read my comment, Tim, was simply perfect. Exactly to the tee of how it sounded in my head, when I was writing it. Have we met? ๐Ÿ˜‰
    All in all, though, guys–very fun and funny show. I’ve enjoyed it very much.
