Welcome to Show #239!

Tim and Bret are out exploring beyond the Rim, so Gary from Jacksonville drops by to fill in. Summer and Gary talk about JMS jumping officially into the Twitterverse, Jeff Conaway being taken to the hospital, and the arrival of Crusade: Other Voices, Vol 2

Carrie Dobro
Interview: Summer and Gary chat with Carrie Dobro (Dureena Nafeel)!

Carrie talks about how much fun she’d had on the show, the challenges of her costume and her contact lenses, about the possible character development paths that Dureena might have gone on with both Galen and Gideon, and much much more.

Catch Carrie’s voice work on the Blake’s 7 audio series!

We really need to revive Crusade Babes, for the betterment of humanity. And yes, we’re going to work on getting CarrieDobro.com fully functional again!

Lurker’s Guide 2.0: Summer is expanding the documentation to be covered at Lurker’s Guide 2.0, the major change being converting the episode guide into a full Wiki with cross-referenced topics, tidbits and everything you’d want in a Wiki. She’s also still searching for pictures of rare collectibles, photos of magazine covers and toys, and all sorts of other B5 goodies that didn’t get included in the original guide during the years after Crusade. Let her know if you want to lend a hand.

More Parody/Filk Songs Wanted: If you know of any more B5-related fan songs out there, definitely let us know, so we can let other B5 fans know where to buy them! And if those CDs are out of print, let’s brainstorm on ways to get those songs back out there for fans!

A very entertaining interview that had some funny parts from the live feed left out. Not really relevant stuff, but funny none the less. People should check out the live feed for the interview podcasts even if it was from a few weeks before.

Carrie was very funny as she was in her interview on here a few years ago. One thing got me thinking about how to finish Crusade from the talk about Hypernauts, was doing an animated series using the original actors’ voices so you wouldn’t notice the age difference. I don’t know if JMS would go along with it, but at least it would be visual. That would follow from his comments previously why Crusade couldn’t be continued in book because it was meant to be visually told story.

For the record, the typical stuff that the live feed would have that the main show wouldn’t are the bits when we’re just starting and Mike’s dialing in everyone’s audio, and at the end when we’re horsing around.

It’s not like I’m snipping out entire sections from the actual interviews… I wouldn’t do that! Unless Bret gets overly “umm”y 😉

I work afternoons and can’t listen “live” to the live feed, but try to listen to the recorded version when I get home. Not every episode has funny bits that get cut out, but listeners should at least try to listen to one “live” feed version of the podcast.

There seems to be a new video link on this website’s home page and I was suggesting people check it out at least once. As professional as you guys are in the edited podcasts, it is interesting to see that you guys put a lot of hard work into the show and that no matter who you are, stuff happens beyond your control..

This was another really good episode. Her comments reinforced my overall view of JMS and television production. There are talented writers, creative thinkers, and efficient managers out there. JMS can do all of these very well and still garner praise and affection from the participants years after the end of the production. Walter Koenig definitely has baggage with the Shat but nothing but praise for his tenure as Bester.Carrie remarked that she got chosen for the job and allowed to act without a lot of pressure or hassle and would’ve loved to continue. JMS could do all the things that creative people do while simultaneously being persuasive and friendly all around, and that is my assessment of his greatest strength.
