Welcome to Show #250!

So, what happens when you have a milestone episode, and everyone forgets to notice? Well, you end up with Tim distracted by shiny toys, with Summer distracted by baseball, and Bret distracted by poking fun at Tim and Summer.

Oh, and that Walter Koenig announcement? JMS says Walter was getting his facts mixed in with some old rumors. Bummer.

Deep Geeking: This week, Tim, Summer and Bret discuss the unproduced Crusade script “To the Ends of the Earth”. In this script, we get to see how deep Gideon’s obsession to uncover the truth about the (purported) Shadow vessel that had destroyed his old ship, the Cerberus.

We also have fun running through rampant speculation based on details that hadn’t yet been fully worked out in a story script that was still in need of a few coats of polish. This is what happens when you let imaginitive geeks run wild… ain’t it wonderful?

New scifi cliche for the list: “Dancing With Asteroids”: when the protagonists duck into an asteroid field to try to gain a tactical advantage in battle or to use them as shields or a “safe” hiding spot.

Feel free to check out the designer’s Facebook page, maybe there’s a custom G’kar or Lyta waiting to be created!

Also, folks preparing to review and discuss the comics and the novels with us (or for us), get ready… your turn will be coming up soon!

Lurker’s Guide 2.0: Summer is expanding the documentation to be covered at Lurker’s Guide 2.0, the major change being converting the episode guide into a full Wiki with cross-referenced topics, tidbits and everything you’d want in a Wiki. She’s also still searching for pictures of rare collectibles, photos of magazine covers and toys, and all sorts of other B5 goodies that didn’t get included in the original guide during the years after Crusade. Let her know if you want to lend a hand.

Is “To The Ends of the Earth” already published in the Crusade script books? I don’t recall reading it yet…
So when’s Volume 2 of “What the Hell Happened?” coming out?

No, it hasn’t appeared in the Crusade scriptbooks just yet. We found copies that must have been inadvertently left behind on an IPX dig on a planet out on the Rim. Funny, we never imagined Eilerson could be so careless…

As for when any of the next Crusade books are coming out, we’d have to rely on the knowledge lying deep in Jason’s head, and since we don’t have any freelance teeps around, nor I’d imagine enough 30-year-old single malt to do the trick, all we can do is JUST SIT AND WAIT.

    Dammit 😉

(there’s bottles of a 55-year-old Glenfiddich being auctioned off in December… don’t let Mike and Brian know)

Enjoyed the discussion of the Kennedy half-dollar as the key artifact from a destroyed ship. Kennedy references are found throughout season 1 of Babylon 5. Personally I would have used another artifact, a star mangled spanner. (Read that a long time ago in Galaxy magazine.)

I think I remember reading this a long time ago. Does it eventually connect to the finale?

I have never succeeded in finding this script. I’ve managed to locate “End of the Line” but not this. I hope I get to read it some day…
