Our Last, Best Hope for Babylon 5 Fans
Tim, Summer and Bret chat with Peter David and Kathleen David, with Peter telling us about how he got into writing episodes for the show, how he needed to divert from “writing for Star Trek” in order to get the Babylon 5 feel correct in the episodes and the novels, finding character voices, and more.
Kathleen talks a little about logistics behind getting the Del Rey B5 novels published, from author selection to publishing schedule and more.

Summer’s appreciation of this episode comes from the complete break from what had been the traditional storytelling style in the series, and diving into old school hard-boiled pulp detective thriller territory. From Garibaldi’s opening monologue, through his working for the power player who’s suspiciouly far beyond his usual clientele, to his having to resist the damsel in distress who almost always lures the private eye to his doom… this episode is all pulp, all the time.

Summer is really jonesing for access to the Titan Magazines stash of Babylon 5 pics that they used in creating the now-defunct Babylon 5 Magazine. Yeah, those would be nice to have.
Remember that Babylon 5 collection that I’d mentioned on the show? The one published by the Science Fiction Foundation? My search for a copy of it yielded zero hits on eBay at the time, and the handful of copies available on Amazon.com were over $100, which was way more than I wanted to spend. But, interestingly enough, copies of it were available at Amazon.co.uk for less than half of that, including shipping to the US.
