What and absolute joy to listen to that interview! Thanks for allowing us all to be part of it.

I’m disappointed Ms. Christian has returned to her original misrepresentation of the season 5 issue, despite her having admitted that jms’s version was the correct one after all, nearly a year after the controversy. The timing makes this downright strange; does she want to honk off jms and ensure she doesn’t get a part in The Lost Tales?

When I heard Summer’s “explicit” warning, I could not think of any reason why the discussion of B5 would be explicit. Now I know. I cringed many times throughout the discussion. Thanks for the warning and the next time I will heed to it and skip the podcast no matter how much I like the guest.

Eric, I remembered that post you linked to as we talked with Claudia. But recall the Vorlon proverb: Understanding is a three-edged sword.

GG, hopefully we won’t have too many “explicit” podcasts, because that’s not our shtick. However, we also want our guests to feel free to express themselves… and Michael doesn’t have the time to go through and bleep all the bleepable words. As soon as we finished that interview, we set about recording the warnings.

After reading Eric’s post, I did some digging at Google Group where he got the info. You can read JMS’s take on Ms. Christian’s controversial departure here:

Re: Understanding is a three-edged sword

Sure, as was this controversy, originally. It collapses to one edge when one of the disagreeing parties admits the other side is correct.

I found the entire podcast to be very entertaining and informative. Claudia isn’t just beatiful and intelligent – she has a great sense of humor. As for the podcast being “explicit”, I hear worse things while walking down the street. GG needs to either grow up and join the real world, or stay away from the internet (and television, and movies, and just about everything & everywhere else). Thanks for the great job y’all are doing.

What a great site! It’s great to see that there are a ton of B5 fans out there that still want to talk it up. Even so much better you can get these great interviews!!!

    Keep it up!!

  9. tim says:

Steve, thanks for the kind words. I’ve said it many times, but it always is worth repeating – we are so fortunate to have Jeffrey on board, because he makes the interviews possible. With Jeffrey handling the guests, and Summer and I on the DeepGeeking, and our loyal and lovely listeners making contributions…. well, I think the Babylon Podcast is something special, and I’m pleased to be a part of it.

I agree with Tim about the three edged sword, and would contend that it’s just as possible that Claudia’s words in this magazine interview have been misconstrued and misinterpreted. It is a magazine article afterall. The whole situation seems like a twisted mass of missunderstandings. I don’t think fans have the right to “rag on” (JMS) either side. None of us were there.
