Welcome to Show #272!
We lament the passing of science fiction master Harry Harrison, recounting some of the classics that he’d written over the years.
Feedbackapalooza: Tim, Summer and Jeremy dive into the messages that you’ve sent us, and we appreciate your messages to us and for us! We have a lot to go through, so settle in, kids…
Mike in Minneapolis weighs in on the logistical benefits of making a Telepath War movie by focusing mostly on the human telepaths, without needing to rely so much on introducing any of the alien races in the B5 Universe to new viewers; Mike in Minneapolis ALSO wonders where the rest of the volumes in his CRUSADE: WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? series may be and if those will be coming out post haste; Mike in Minneapolis relates how he believes how The Lost Tales‘ “Over Here” really felt like a retelling of a JMS short story “The Darkness Between the Stars” more than a true Babylon 5 episode; John from Jersey wants to know if mixing morbidium and unobtainium is where plotonium comes from; Gary feels bad for not calling in as much, leaving the voicemail line fallow long enough for it to go away; Gary updates us on the voiceover work that Bruce Boxleitner’s doing on Disney’s new animated TRON: UPRISING; Neil from Bowie talks about how much he’s enjoying the depth of material in the “Echoes of our Conversations” volumes, especially the CDs with the audio interviews; Neil thinks we forgot to mention the special edition mini-comic that came with special editions of The Lost Tales (I coulda swore we at least mentioned it at one point);
Neil from Bowie has finally obtained the short stories, and is leery of reading “Space, Time and the Incurable Romantic”; Arkle was pleasantly surprised that JMS is credited as a co-writer for Underworld: Awakening, and his versions of the World War Z script are out there, now that the movie’s being rewritten by Damon Lindelof; Peter from NY elaborates on the positioning of Grey 17, and let’s us know that he’s the moderator of the online game “I Found Her!”, and some other related Babylon 5 tidbits on the Internet that we had not yet mentioned, the audio drama that follows David Sheridan, the audio drama that Darker Projects did of the Bester story from Crusade, and Starbase79.com has unpublished blueprints and more; Gary again sings the praises of the explosion of B5 pages and content and photos on Facebook; a report that the copper-colored station from Sheridan’s desk was taken home by JMS when the series wrapped;
Neil from Bowie thanks us for providing him with content to listen to on his long morning drives; Neil pokes fun at how long it’s been since we’ve had a Feedbackapalooza; Neil is amazed that there was no Lensman mention during Show #265 at all; Neil talks about the Neil Gaiman interview in Echoes Vol 5, specifically why he chose the characters he did, in particular the pairing of Lennier and Morden; Neil came across mention of an unproduced Season 5 script by Peter David called “Gut Reactions”, and would like to know our thoughts on the story; Neil is intrigued by the Z’Ha’Dum promo interlude that first played in Show #267 (and Summer had forgotten about it just that fast); Neil is surprised that neither Tim nor Jeremy has any of the B5 Magazines, and that leads into a discussion of BSG toys; Neil also loves hearing the old G’Kar TNT promo; Neil reminds Tim why original music wouldn’t have worked for Quantum Leap; Neil details some of the info in the Security Manual (which we will get to eventually)
And remember, it’s just chalk, baby… it’s just chalk.

Lurker’s Guide 2.0: Summer is expanding the documentation to be covered at Lurker’s Guide 2.0, the major change being converting the episode guide into a full Wiki with cross-referenced topics, tidbits and everything you’d want in a Wiki. She’s also still searching for pictures of rare collectibles, photos of magazine covers and toys, and all sorts of other B5 goodies that didn’t get included in the original guide during the years after Crusade. Let her know if you want to lend a hand.
More Parody/Filk Songs Wanted: If you know of any more B5-related fan songs out there, definitely let us know, so we can let other B5 fans know where to buy them! And if those CDs are out of print, let’s brainstorm on ways to get those songs back out there for fans!

Yes, the the special edition mini-comic that came with special editions of The Lost Tales was mentioned on the podcast at one point, but we didn’t mention it during either of the two podcasts that dealt with the comics.
Many thanks for the link!
