Yes, it’s Halloween Week, and we’d like to extend a special shout-out to listener David Rita, who made sure that the B5 cast in our banner didn’t miss out on the spook-tivities!
Have you noticed that over the years it’s gone from just Mischief Night and Halloween, to Halloween weekend to Halloween week? Is that because the many TV shows on the air all have their own Halloween specials on whatever airdate was closest to Halloween, or did holiday marketing just get out of control?
Halloween lasts a week, Thanksgiving lasts almost a month, and ChristmaHanuKwanzaakah lasts from the day after Thanksgiving well into January.
The marketing departments of the Deep Space Franchises are coming for us all… like zombies shuffling in the night…

I agree. One holiday month is enough. I don’t want it pushed back to October,
This sound similar to the “Christmas tradition” in Russia. The actual Christian Orthodox Christmas comes in the first few weeks of January, but for as long as I can remember people start celebrating at in the middle of December. And then, at the very end (which is closer to the end of January) there is this thing called “Old-New Year”, which is also celebrated on the tail of the Orthodox Christmas’ end. Of course, most of this is less about gift-giving and more about eating and drinking and being completely unequipped to work during that period.
