Welcome to Show #240!
Tim, Summer and Bret reminisce about Jeff Conaway in happier times and their favorite Zack Allan moments, and wondering why most of the articles about his passing contained no mention of his time Babylon 5.
And JMS now has his official website and Twitter feed:
Website: http://www.neversurrenderdreams.com
Twitter: @straczynski
Pat recalls the fun of the rehearsals with Richard Biggs, of working with Andreas Katsulas and with Robin Atkin Downes, and about learning how real human eyes are connected differently than zombie movie eyes.
Pat also expands on her geek girl fan moments on Castle, and teases her appearance with JMS at the San Diego Comic-Con, and mentions that she can’t mention the new super-secret JMS project.
Seriously, who doesn’t like seeing chicks kick butt? And stay tuned, you never know when there’ll be a future segment of Sex Tips with Pat!
And yes, the Lyta Alexander Favorites Poll is open again, so tell all your B5 friends who didn’t get a chance to vote before to come by and make their choices!

Lurker’s Guide 2.0: Summer is expanding the documentation to be covered at Lurker’s Guide 2.0, the major change being converting the episode guide into a full Wiki with cross-referenced topics, tidbits and everything you’d want in a Wiki. She’s also still searching for pictures of rare collectibles, photos of magazine covers and toys, and all sorts of other B5 goodies that didn’t get included in the original guide during the years after Crusade. Let her know if you want to lend a hand.
More Parody/Filk Songs Wanted: If you know of any more B5-related fan songs out there, definitely let us know, so we can let other B5 fans know where to buy them! And if those CDs are out of print, let’s brainstorm on ways to get those songs back out there for fans!

Babylon 5 Information Gathering: If you know of a dead or abandoned B5 related website that may be in need of a new home, let Summer know! Maybe we can mirror it here or house it on a sister site.

Best interview Ever. I couldn’t love Pat more, but Game of Thrones and sex advice, amazing. I am thinking the super secret project is Telepath War animated.
As an animation vet myself, of course, the idea of an animated spin-off of B5 has popped up in my wish list from time to time.
It would also handle the problem of our dear departed cast members. It’s a LOT easier and acceptable to simulate a G’Kar with a great voice artist than recast that role live. (in fact, I think that would be flat-out impossible).
Think about it…you could do in animation things that you could never reasonably afford on set.
Give us a framing device for the series and bounce all over the B5 Universe…
Give poor Summer some Crusade closure and other much wanted missing gaps filled in. The Lost Tales with more than a buck twenty to do it with.
I’d be specific, but it’s probably best NOT to suggest story ideas.
PS where the heck is Jarsto and/or Edmond? How about Jeffery for pete’s sake?
Understanding that Jeffery and JMS don’t mix well, I can understand some things. During the entire interview, not having any comment, even a mention by Pat, of Jeffrey (her husband) seemed strange. Clearly, Jeffrey knew Jeff Conaway — not even a taped comment?
Special episode idea: All of B5 production company (actors, techs, everybody) who have passed beyond the rim. Parallel the deaths associated with Egyptian antiquities pilfering and B5 deaths, many of which have been sudden and premature. Pat’s contribution would be invaluable due to her stunt background and knowing all of those who died.
Pat is an outstanding interview subject. She can even work in profanity with the smoothness and power of Lyta. You go, girl.
Cheers!
Michael
Our pre-production plans were thrown out the window with this interview and the Davids, because of how late we got started with Pat, and you know we’re always weeks behind with voicemails… plus, since we’re planning on having her back on after Comic-Con, I figured we could make up then.
You can click on the “In Memoriam” tag to check out the posts and discussions we’ve had about cast and crew who have passed away. I have no idea what you mean about Egyptian antiquities, though.
Actually, getting a comment from Jeffrey alongside Pat might have been more difficult than you might think. That is, if their imdb listing is correct – they are exes at the present time. I was send in a “cute” question about their relationship until I saw that in the imdb listing.
Neil, oh my; I didn’t think to check. Thanks for that info.
Re: Egyptian Antiquities. I was making a sadly obtuse reference to “King Tut’s Curse” and other stories that issue payback to those who break in and steal. JMS has used this plot device in a few of his B5 stories and one in Crusade.
And, yes, I know that such a podcast discussion could be a downer. When you first saw Sleeping in Light, did you guess how JMS was going to handle the end of the episode? Maybe an episode on the many unexpected deaths of the B5 crew could handle it similarly. Y’all do a great job with the serious discussion. A little humor is a nice spice, but I think you could all handle a conversation on death with dignity too. (… as long as you avoid DotD)
Cheers!
Michael
Hmm. Pat Tallman talking sex.
Say it with me folks.
“I’ll be in my bunk.”
Creepy.
Patricia Tallman: “The next thing I remember I was at a meeting with JMS.”
Summer: “Well, come on. Tell us about it.”
Patricia Tallman: “I can’t. I wish I could, but I’m not allowed to talk about most of what I saw. The rest, .. you wouldn’t believe anyway.”
