Welcome to Show #251!
Tim gives a rundown of the B5 related entries in the io9 Top Ten Best SF Smack Talk list, and go check out the video clips for yourself.
We also retract our previous excited utterances, repeating what Walter Koenig had announced regarding JMS negotiating to acquire rights to Babylon 5… JMS clarified that he’d been mulling over acquiring rights to do Babylon 5 comics.
And, Bret is not Shatner.
Also, folks preparing to review and discuss the comics and novels with us (or for us), get ready… your turn will be coming up soon!
Deep Geeking: Tim, Summer and Bret discuss the unproduced Crusade episode “Value Judgments”, written by Fiona Avery. This episode was very close to being shot, with contracts out to Walter Koenig to guest star, and Mike Vejar to direct. That it didn’t get produced is our loss.
Listener Emails: We open with some Technical Support for Newcomers, and point out the RSS feeds in the sidebar that people can use to subscribe to the previous seasons of Babylon Podcast; Colin thanks the crew for doing the show, and relates how much he enjoyed the Babes and Hair episodes, and he also has some qualms about “Day of the Dead”.
Lurker’s Guide 2.0: Summer is expanding the documentation to be covered at Lurker’s Guide 2.0, the major change being converting the episode guide into a full Wiki with cross-referenced topics, tidbits and everything you’d want in a Wiki. She’s also still searching for pictures of rare collectibles, photos of magazine covers and toys, and all sorts of other B5 goodies that didn’t get included in the original guide during the years after Crusade. Let her know if you want to lend a hand.

Sigh. You know, I’d finally gotten over how TNG screwed with Crusade before cancelling it. But hearing about this episode just brought all that nerd rage bubbling back to the surface. I mean we’re talking higher levels than “I’m half-Human on my mother’s side” nerd rage. 🙂
TNT, not TNG. Gah, where did that come from? This is why I should not comment when I have a head cold.
Listening to this episode makes me wonder, you suppose there is any way we can get permission from the Great Maker and any other powers that be to turn these scripts into low tech audio plays? Please, please, please…pretty please……
I think we might have to ask The Jason Davis if he can work any magic in that department…
Better yet would be if we could get the cast together and do them as cast read-troughs.
Lets do! That would be so much fun!
Oh, I WANT THIS EPISODE!!! Sorry for the caps, but nothing else would express my feelings… They stole a Mr Bester episode from us – stole it, my preciousss….
Great podcast and please keep it up – I can’t wait for the other episodes, though it pains me at the same time, at what could have been… I’ll say this, personally, I don’t care how much exposition they’d put in the middle of the fight – in fact, I don’t care if they’d stopped in the middle of it for tea and cookies – if I just could have the episode! It would all have been fine by me…
This episode should have been produced way before the costume change episode or a good chunk of the episodes that Crusade did. The only problem with this episode is that it seem to contradict the last part of the PSI Corp trilogy, I think.
