Welcome to Show #263!

Tim recommends everyone check out John Carter, and the epic fail in the movie’s marketing strategy definitely is one of Summer’s hot buttons, and Gary gives us an overview of the new project from the Babylon 5 Scriptbooks team, “Echoes of All Our Conversations”, which is a 6-volume collection behind-the-scenes interviews during the years the series was in production.

Discussion: Tim, Summer, Jeremy and guest collectibles expert Gary from Jacksonville discuss the plan for talking about the Babylon 5 comics published by DC Comics and by Titan Books. Many issues surrounded the actual creation, writing and publication of the series, and Gary gives us a little bit of that wacky history.

There are 11 original issues from DC, plus the 3-issue “In Valen’s Name” miniseries, and the trade graphic novel reprints by Titan and DC. Many of the issues have been spotted on Amazon Marketplace and eBay, so depending on how badly you want a complete Babylon 5 collectibles collection, it shouldn’t be too hard for you to find them all.

The one exception may be the special mini-comic that came with The Lost Tales that you could only get at Best Buy for a short time. It’s an 8-page insert that’s an homage to Richard Biggs and Andreas Katsulas, and we have no idea how easy or difficult it is to obtain these days.

We also touch a little on other upcoming topics we’re planning to discuss: the six short stories, the breakdown of talking about the numbered novels, and the toys and collectible card game, and the variety of ship models that can still be found.

Also, folks preparing to review and discuss the novels with us (or for us), get ready… your turn will be coming up next!

Submitting your own Feedback: If you have any suggestions or comments, please let us know! Call, or just email us a comment you’ve recorded yourself!

Lurker’s Guide 2.0: Summer is expanding the documentation to be covered at Lurker’s Guide 2.0, the major change being converting the episode guide into a full Wiki with cross-referenced topics, tidbits and everything you’d want in a Wiki. She’s also still searching for pictures of rare collectibles, photos of magazine covers and toys, and all sorts of other B5 goodies that didn’t get included in the original guide during the years after Crusade. Let her know if you want to lend a hand.

More Parody/Filk Songs Wanted: If you know of any more B5-related fan songs out there, definitely let us know, so we can let other B5 fans know where to buy them! And if those CDs are out of print, let’s brainstorm on ways to get those songs back out there for fans!

I’ve got all of the comics. Wish I could have been able to contribute when you recorded these episodes.

There’s still a metric buttload of the 8″ figs at one of the local comic shops for $5 each. If only I was a collector…
